The Manchurian Candidate, which, most people do not know, was written in 1959, before the original movie in 1962, and is a complete mind-fnck.

@Dros - no, but I've got excellent references!

- Abyss, will settle for a good conspiracy.

I bought no books today. Someone else bought one for me. You see, having got one of my friends into Mieville, he decided, for some reason, to go out and buy the big, expensive, hardback copy of the Iron Council, and because he had other books to read, gave it to me first Posted Image He he he.

You'll probably enjoy the Shadow Warrior series there Caladan, thought there was a bit too much pointless sex in it (thats just knocked the sales figures up, lol) but other than that really enjoyed it.

I picked up a copy of The Gunslinger... on the sole basis that there is a six page thread here about that series... hope its good.

On a far sadder note... as that promo certificate Abyss just mentioned is good only for Amazon.ca... and since I'm a dirty american who already bought TWP...are the certificates tied to your account, or could I give it to someone else who might use it?

Apale and Abyss - I assume you are talking about the first League Coic TPB???

If so the sory is dissimilar to the movie, the characters are much more grotesque (read - no pandering to mainstream views of what a hero should be, or whether the protagonist should be a hero).

This can be summarised fairly neatly - look at the author - Alan Moore. Let's face it the man looks like a rumpled Rasputin and writes like a deranged Marxist and it is all GOOD!

So, cruising through my local the other day I came across a Poetry book by Mr Moore, originally from the AARGH! movement. Anyone read it? I flipped through it and thought it was reasonable but wasn't able to fork out 40-odd dollars!
