Just received a press release from SE's publicist. And it sure looks like this year is the year that Transworld is truly giving The Malazan Book of the Fallen a marketing push.

- The reissue of Gardens of the Moon
- Toll the Hounds will be a hardback release, with the trade paperback only available in the fall
- They're flying Erikson to the UK to attend readings, signings, and other events.

It's nice to see that they have really getting behind him as the series gains momentum!

Check the blog for all the details!:D

That sounds great Pat!

Any idea when we might see Toll the Hounds cover art?

If it's like last year, I would say around March...

*sad face*

I'm hoping someone comes out with a book similar to the art book of GRRM's series for Malaz...that'd be sweet.

Man I'd love to attend a SE event....*sadder face* stupid America.

Looks like a great year :D, and it's good to have a better idea of when the books will be released.

Oh and if SE's in the UK in June for the TtH release that coincides quite nicely with the proposed malazan get together.... so we're sure to have lots to discuss there :)

@pat5150
from your blog: "April will bring the paperback edition of Reaper's Gale, and will include a teaser from Toll the Hounds"

i get the sinking feeling this will be the prologue and thus meaning no prologue for all of us until april... so it ain't so :D

edit: not to put a damper on things. all of this is awesome news. just can't wait!

They can't consign all of us to walk into our local bookshop to check the back of the Reaper's Gale paperback for the prologue. I hope it's earlier. Anyway I'm sure it will be and merry times will be ahead.

Am I the only one who thinks a purely hardback release of Toll the Hounds is a bad idea? I much prefer paperbacks - they're cheaper, easier, lighter and the TradePBs look nicer anyway. This sucks:(

On the other hand, can't wait for signings and such!! I might stalk him round the country from shop to shop;)

Yeah, i have a special hatred for Hardbacks, and not just because of the price. :D
But it's good to see them finally trying to seriously promote him. Better late than never.

I would actually like all the MBotF series in Hardback eventually...put em on the bookshelf....that'd look good.

But I agree...it is annoying to have to buy and read a hardback.

Definetly, Id love hardcovers as like a collection. But for reading lol..Im not gentle with my books, so I really prefer the slightly cheaper paperbacks.

I will not be buying the hardback, short and simple. Guess I'll have to wait untill the fall, visiting the forum is going to be hell.

why? petty hatred of hardbacks?

I'll read a hardback, i'm not too bothered either way although most people seem to be.

I'm pretty sure it will cost 10 pounds extra, at least, for the hardback. I don't like the hardbacks particularly and it won't fit with the rest of my worn and torn copies on the shelf.

Same here. :D

It's not so much about money, but hardback is just waaaay too heavy and impractical to carry around, and considering that I mostly read on the subway or in cafes after work, adding a 700 pg hardback into my already overloaded handbag and dragging it around all day is not a particularly comfortable solution.

My collection already became mixed up with the huge paperback edition of bonehunters and winning a hardback copy of reaper's gale. My collection is veering towards a hardback continuity unfortunately, I see what everyone means by the impracticality but I would rather read the book on time rather than wait.

And you call yourselves fans...shame on you...I don't care if the entire book was written on 850 STONE tablets...Its mine as soon as its out even if I have to pull it with a truck to my house....
