well, maybe SE had to put in the 'fucking dragon' quote anyways, because later in the book it'll show Silchas will run away from the bonehunters, only to go and make some ugly babies... so Fid saying 'fucking dragon' is actually some kind of profecy :p

Or maybe there's a kind of dragons that reproduce without sexual intercourse, but silchas is the kind that does use sexual intercourse, and thus Fid observes this and says 'fucking dragon' instead of 'non-fucking dragon'

Okay, sorry for the crap-talk here, but really, big deal or not, there's no need to even mention the fact that SE used the fuck word (and besides, using the same curses over and over starts to get boring anyways... and even SEs swearing-muse will probably stop whispering from time to time I guess)

In books 1-6 if Fiddler survived an encounter with a dragon, he might say "Hood's hairy balls, blasted dragon!" or even " Togg's titillating teats, run bastard!" or even "Fener's furry balls, away with you!" but he would not have said "fucking dragon." Suddenly, in Reaper's Gale, the f-bomb is everywhere. That, and only that, is the issue that many people have with RG's expletives. Its just a distraction from the atmosphere set by the preceding novels. I'll get over it.

I don't have a fucking problem with using the word "fuck" (see what I did there?), dig? Hope it sinks in this fucking time. Fuck.

To be honest, all those 'created' curses you volunteered just then sounded really silly. 'Fucking dragon' was concise and effective. I agree that if 'fuck' and 'shit' were used more sparingly in the later books and maybe popped up once or twice in the earlier ones it would have been more consistent and a whole lot less jarring for most, but to be honest I didn't really notice. If I'm in it, then I'm in it, and a couple of swear words aren't going to throw me off :p

I totally agree with Shiara....it just didn't change the scene for me really....i haven't been giving too much consideration to the curse words in the series....but as I stated earlier..."fucking dragon" really worked for me...I laughed my ass off

Und me.

They don't now necessarily say fuck and shit in the worst situations. Remember the encounter with the Kenryll'ah demons? Stormy went off, but no fuck or shit. Besides, i find it rather funny. When Balm said, "Fine, a Hood-damned fucking ladder then" in BH, I pissed myself laughing.

As long as the traditional swears don't disappear, i think we're fine.

hah! If I saw a sharper roll my way, I'd probably say 'bugger' and then be blown to pieces... it would be a great last word imo

Lol hell yeah! I'd probably say (if it were a slow burn) Oh..... dear. ;)
