My predictions: Man U vs Chelsea final (much as I hate Chelsea, I think they have more chance of getting there than Liverpool, Arsenal or Fenerbace)
Man U win, but it will be a fairly boring, defensive game, until perhaps the last 10/15 minutes.

If its united in the final it'll be 0-0 all game, ronaldo will score a free kick in the 7th minute of injury time

Not if they're playing Chelski, 'cause the free kick won't be given. If it IS given, Terry will save it...

I'd like to see Man U vs Fener. I dislike the other 3 English teams. If it was someone like Spurs (whom I like as a team) I wouldn't mind them getting to the final...

Sitting and watching Roma-Man.U, just finished the 1'st half.. Damn but Roma have gotten much MUCH better this year than the last. So far it's 0-1, and do guess who scored, shouldn't take you long to find out....
Can't wait to see the rest.

Yepp, they did it. I'm mightily impressed by Roma's play though. They made it very difficult for za redz to win, but win they did. Even though I'm a Man.U fan, even I don't want to see a repetition of the match last year. Outright declassification is fun to watch, but I guess I'm soft on feeling bad for the losing team...

Not really. They beat us in Rome last year, and this time they didn't look remotely confident. I know they were missing Totti, but they cared more about not getting a caning than about winning.

They were better in the group stages, but meh. I guess the pressure got to them. And we look so good right now.

Also, double post, but to me watching this was more cringeworthy than that. They may have been beaten like naughty schoolboys last time, but seeing a top team from one of the prime footballing nations in the quarter finals of the highest-quality football competition in the world come out from the start at their own ground with the mindset of trying to limit their opponents to as few goals as possible was not pretty to watch.

The difference being that Chelsea still attempt to win :(

The last time I remember a team of that stature come out with that kind of unconfidence was the travesty against Arsenal in the FA cup final, and they somehow managed to pull that off.

I'm watching Arsenal versus Liverpool, pretty good match. Though the ball movement seems sloppy at times.

Ok, so I just saw that goal by Cristiano Ronaldo (sp?) against A Villa....that was just sick.

Is he the best player in the world right now?

Yes. I don't really see how it can be debated, right now. The main rivals from last season have dropped off, nobody else has really stepped up, and he's gotten better.

The guy on ESPN goes, "That's just pure arrogance." And I was just laughing my ass off, because the guy is just that great. Now if he could tone down all the flopping in the World Cup...

Great result for Liverpool tonight ! TT will no doubt have some words for me ( not nice one's I expect  )

Oh, and what a strike by Davide to beat Chelski ..... to be honest he took his own goal with some aplomb as well :( .... still expect Chelski to go through though.
What Would Jack Do ?

very happy with the result last night.
Anyone complains about dirk kuyt not scoring should shut the hell up (myself included) he's a workhorse, saved us at the back several times with big challenges and an awesome tear down that somehow was not given as a penalty.
I'd say we've progressed, european night at anfield I can't see arsenal stepping up more than they tried last night.

See that's where I have to disagree Macros, I've seen Arsenal step up way beyond that many times this season, which is why I get so annoyed at other times. This looks exactly like the AC Milan tie.

0-0 at home, Arsenal dominated, we haf loads of chances but didnt take them, some great passing play and all that. We all thought that was it, off to the SanSiro where we couldnt replicate that and we'd be shat all over. Instead we went and played even better and got 2. I'm confident we can still do that at Anfield, seeing as you cant bank on getting a 0-0 and will have to go for at least one, giving us a chance.

That being said, I dont think we will win, but Im just saying the potential's there and we can still win it.

There's no doubt at all we were the better side last night, what a negative, defensive performance by Liverpool. Event he stats seems to mock you, when they took Alonso off they made a point of flashing up "Attacking Passes: 0", which says it all really. It was a case of 10 men back and long balls to Torres (who was brilliant, I have to say, worked harder than Kuyt but with talent IMHO). I dont think you can do that in front of the Kop and get away with it, although to be fair you did exactly what you needed- away goal, advantage going to the home leg, didnt concede again, and I can see why Liverpool are so good in Europe. I'd still rather play like us though. :p :D

Stonewall pen though. And the sooner Bendtner and Eboue are executed, the better.

All said though, good game, cant blame Liverpool for being tactically astute and well done for getting the result, but it's still very much game on and I reckon it'll be a completely different game at Anfield, exciting and high scoring.

Well, we can dream. :(

Well done Fenerbahce too btw, what a strike!

I agree with you TT, arsenal were all over us, all I said was I was pleased with the result:).
Bendter must feel like a total douchebag for that comedy act on our line.
I was wary of suggesting we've got it in the bag after the thrashings you handed us last year in the fa and carling but come europe, Liverpool are a different team, there no denying it, stepping into anfield on a european night, chasing a goal is going to intimidate any team, and I did say step up further than last night not just step up :(, I mean arsenal had us really panicked several times, my heart was past my mouth when bendtner saved the day, I think it was floating above my head

ETA the independant has the right of it

Quote

Arsenal will remember the penalty that was never given to Alexander Hleb but most of all they will consider the trip to Anfield on Tuesday with bleak foreboding: nowhere in Europe, not even San Siro, has quite the same reputation as the fortress in Stanley Park.

In my mind thise gives the advantage to Liverpool, but wither team could certainly still win it. Which is better than the other ties at least which, while close in scores, seem pretty foregone conclutions at this stage.

Well, Fenerbache obviously hold the advantage over Chelsea, but I still see Chelsea going through at home.
