And by turning your Y Fronts inside out you get another weeks wear out eh?

What i want to know is, why is the Errant classed as an Elder God? Just because he is well old? I'm sure in the books from when we are first introduced to him he states that he rose to become the master of the holds and from then on to become a god, the god of chance and this and that.

Now from this i would assume he ascended to become the master of the holds. then chose god hood for a better power base and imortality and then annoyed the hell out of a lot of people by being well blaze.

Anyhow.

I thought the specific difference between Elder and Younger Gods was the fact that Elder Gods are Elementals of some form. From what I've so almost randomly said above. Surely you cannot become an Elder God?
"I think i was a bad person before. Before this time. I do not try to be good now but i am not bad. Perhaps if i try harder i may get a better hand dealt next time? But surely that makes it pointless? Perhaps i am good. Just good at being pointless. But that would make me bad. Bad at having a point. Ah…. I see now. I was nothing before, I am nothing now. I am bad purely because im pointless. "

Well, could be that as realms form the ascendants form the elder gods of that place?

The CG is a newcomer/interloper, but could be an EG/elemental from his place.

Assuming, of course that there is an "outside" place that existed before MD and FL started their own episode of All My Children.

I thought that bit with the they all cast shadows was fairly obvious, everything casts a shadow, and all shadows end up in the shadow realm, but the important thing is most people are moving around so their shadows, aren't very 'solid' I suppose is the word.

Now think about all the prisoners around in the world, jaghut and others under rocks imprisoned by the imass, those in the azath, and all the countless beings too powerful to die imprisoned in countless realms. These beings have been imprisoned for so long that their shadows acquire permanence of a sort, and so all the prisoners from all the realms find their shadow drawn and chained in shadow, so all prisoners anywhere can be found somewhere in the drifting warren of shadow, and somehow thanks to the nature of shadow they become really there, bound in shadow as well as their original place of imprisonment.

Wow, this sounds really... convincing... And really makes sense. For I've also been chewing for so long on that Panek-Cot exchange, and I've been puzzled by Cot's response.. It all makes sense now (given that your theory is true, of course);)

Take a look in the Elemental Force or Elder God thread

I made it to take up that discussion.

The Errant, The Eres, Ardatha (Queen of spiders or weaving), Hood, all seem to be called Elder Gods, but their called this because they are old creatures from the elder times.

Not because they are apart of the "Elder Gods" that seem to have been Mother Darks firsts children or as Udinass put it, first partners. These mostlikely count Kru'll, Draconus, Nightchill, etc.

Does that mean that Paran can become a god later? He is Master of the Deck and Errant was master of the Holds (could have been the old Deck). Draconous or Nightchill did say that there have been masters of the Deck in the past

paran is ascendant just by being the master of the deck, but to be a god you have to have worshippers to give you power. and i dont know if anyone is worshipping him yet

I believe he was described as all but ascended when he became master of the deck. I'll try to find that reference.

When he discussed it with Apsalar and later with Hedge in TB, Paran expressed that he didn't really know what he was. Bottom-line, imnsho, if he's got more abilities than a 'base-line' human, he's ascended.

As Rakaha' states above, you may need worshippers to move on the godhood, tho i don't think that precludes finding other ways to do it.

- Abyss, not an ascendant but plays one on tv.
