Hey Sparky- according to the SubPress people the only place it would be available is through them (which is probably why amazon cancelled your order). A 40% discount would be sick but I wouldn't expect to see it through amazon, at least it wasn't there when I checked recently.

I called em about it. They cancelled the order because it had been pending longer than 6 months and they didn't have a definite release date. They assured me that they would be getting the book if and when it finally comes out and to put my name on the 'notify me' list and I would be guaranteed the preorder price. I kept all documentation just in case they try and screw me.

But if it's not mean to be then oh well. I just don't have that sort of expendable income this time of year, and any extra money I do have is going towards my new tv. As much as I'd like the book, a shiny new 52" LCD is just so much more sexy.

So last night I was walking downtown for some pizza at like 1am with some friends of mine,
and someone said, "I'm so hungry I could eat a whole pizza."

I said, "I bet I could eat 100 pizzas," and no one understood me. I was sad.

With the imminent release of this book I am wondering how I would make sure that the appropriate people of the correct address. I have moved twice since I ordered this book and I want to make sure I actually receive it. Thanks.

Justinus, Contact subpress@gmail.com and ask. I can't find anything more concrete at the moment but they should know exactly what to do.

Steven Erikson's GARDENS OF THE MOON Heads to the Printer!

Michael Komarck has turned some of the best epic fantasy illustrations we've ever seen for Steven Erikson's Gardens of the Moon. We've just finished going through all of the art, making sure of its placement, approved the dust jackets for the limited and lettered editions, as well as the interior text for the book itself. Early this week our designer, Gail Cross, will upload all the files to our printer's ftp site, and this long awaited project will finally be roughly 4-5 weeks from publication. Thanks to everyone for their patience. When you see the finished books, we think you'll feel rewarded for your faith.

As soon as Garden heads to the printer, Michael will start work on book two, Deadhouse Gates...

As a reminder, we do not expect to have copies of Gardens available to large online retailers or wholesalers. Your only way to snag a copy will be direct from SubPress.

Limited: 500 signed numbered hardcovers: $125

Which is entirely understandable, why sell through a middle man (selling at perhaps 40% lower) when you can sell directly to the market for the full market price? Surely SubPress would make around 50% of the profit if they use Amazon as a middle man.

Still on the subject of epic fantasy, production of our edition of Gardens of the Moon (Steven Erikson) continues apace. All of the full-color artwork has been printed and is in the hands of our printer, who should be sending us the final set of proofs in the next week. With a little luck, only a few weeks past that we'll be sending copies out to customers.

-Straight from the SubPress email. Hopefully that means 2ish weeks.

Brood just sent me this link which he thought would be worth sharing with you:

Shipping Update — Steven Erikson, Caitlin R. Kiernan, Jack McDevitt

The update is from yesterday. Seems like they'll start shipping the numbered ones around 20th... :p

They mean all copies, lettered and limited. All of those are numbered.

I could be wrong about lettered, but limited aka numbered off their website.

Could be wrong, but the lettered edition usually ships weeks later because the slipcases take longer to produce. . .

I always figured letters shipped before the numbered ones?

Looks like a small update:

The wait is nearly over. We’re due to receive the first advance copies of Steven Erikson’s Gardens of the Moon later today, and will arrange for pickup of the bulk of the print run and start our shippers on them later this week. (Right now, they’re finishing up the shipping of Jack McDevitt’s mammoth career retrospective, Cryptic.) We’ll post an update later today when the first copies of Gardens arrive and we see how it turned out.

Please remember that we’re not making Gardens available to our wholesale or large online retail accounts, so the only way to snag a copy at this point is direct from SubPress.

Nope, sorry. . .

If you check the regular update on the Subpress website, it's almost always the opposite. . .
