My copy of Night of Knives had 60 pages repeated and 30 pages missing around page 196...

Check that your copy has these pages before you buy ;)

Is this Bantam version?

Now you have me all worried...

Dang...now that's great...I just checked with my HC copy (Bantam) and it seems it has misprinting... for example, I have two times the header "Chapter 5". It does not seem to be two times the same chapter though (which is good, all in all). But on the other hand...how about a "nothing-wrong-with-it"-copy?! Great... ;)

I'll have to check if there's nothing wrong with my copy now.

I had the same problem, twice (not the same pages either, in seperate parts of the books), and when I went in today to exchange it again they'd pulled their stock of it. So yeah, be wary before you buy it.
Exchanged it for something else, since obviously they weren't wanting to risk ordering me in a new one, in case the problem's with the entire print run.
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

In my Bantam copy there are two chapters headed "chapter 5". But as they are not the same chapter it seems to be only a slight misprint. Other than that there is nothing wrong with my copy, so I don't think the entire print run is compromised.

I also have the two Chapter Five headers, but the rest of it seems fine. All the pages are there.

I don't mind the Header title thing, I might not have noticed if someone hadn't said something.

Well you can all return it back from the place you purchased them, I'm pretty sure they'll take it back without any arguments I know Chapters doesn't in Toronto...they take it as a manufacturers defect.

This is the 2nd time they've completely screwed over a batch. Last year or so they screwed up a batch of Gardens of the Moon a couple years before that a few pages in Gardens were literally shorter than the other pages in the novel but those errors were consistent across the batch. This is just funny, you're reporting different issues *sigh*...yeah all in all Bantam Press doesn't actually know how to press books.

Maybe it's all a really clever code by the author, and if you read the 'misprinted' sections twice there's an ultra-double-secret message, like the Stormriders are really Snorks mutated by toxic waste, or Temper is really Hulk Hogan in disguise... and the second Chapter 5 is to be read backwards...
and... and...

Oh, screw it, Bantam shagged the canine.

- Abyss, liked the Snorks idea for a second there...

Yesterday while reading Nok I discovered that my copy is missing 30 pages :)
That's getting ridiculous. Are there any copies not missing anything [barring the doubled chapter five header]? :)

My copy seems to be fine, other than Chapter 4 ("Old Enemies, Old Friends") labelled as Chapter 5.

Well the publisher wasn't even aware of these problems until I pointed it out in an email, in fact they were shocked. I've haven't been in contact since nor do I know exactly what they plan on doing but talk to your vendors see what they'll do. There hasn't been a recall or anything either so yeah, talk to your vendor see what they're willing to do for you.

I don't know if you are talking about the same edition as mine (paperback, PS Publishing), but my one is full of trivial and avoidable spelling mistakes. It's pretty disappointing, especially for the price I paid, but I got over it.

HC, Bantam
So I don't think it's the same edition.

Damn. That sounds like a bad deal. No pages missing in my Bantam Press edition but plenty of typos which is probably more of an editorial issue than a printing issue.

Yeah my copy had a few typos in it. And about halfway through the books the Hounds became the hounds, loosing their capital H status. I take is this was an error, and the hounds didn't actually loose any potency.

I don't understand why people are so upset over a few miss-spellings or wrong chapter heading.

50 years from now when the Malazan series has finally been heralded as the turning point of cleverly written fantasy these books will be worth millions. MILLIONS I TELL YOU!!
