Yea, Cotillion has martyr written all over him, he's too nice..
On the hate side, Rel and Dom... Those SOBs will hopefully die in a most excruciating way; and I can't wait till then.

Absolutely. Mallick Rel was responsible for the deaths of Coltaine, the Seventh and Pormqual's legions. And Dom is a treacherous filthy little swine that betrayed and killed all for his own benefit. I'd give a year's pay to strike a match for their pyre.

@Tehol

Who is Jumpy? If he's from RotCG then don't tell me...

It has been proven beyond all reasonable doubt that the most powerful force on Wu is a bunch of messed-up Malazans with Moranth munitions.

Jumpy's from RCG. Probably my favorite new character of that book.

I don't like most of SE's female characters very much
I don't think they are very realistic and most of them are just annoying

I agree for the most part. I also find that the female soldiers aren't very well personalized.

I found that, compared to most fantasy the female characters in Malaz are very refreshing and much more realistic, obviously not perfect but much better.

This Ghelel guy sounds like a dick...explain WHY, not WHO HE IS. Thankyou.

I generally agree with that, and find some of his female characters to be really original and well personalized. But some of them, while better than, say, Jordan's women, I just don't feel meet the standards to which I hold Erikson, and I find this is more frequently the case among the female soldiers.

I guess that's accurate...if I were a lesbian, I'd be all about the cute androgynous lesbians who can almost pass for girly boys.

Snell, that little punk. Also the other little brat that torments Harlo and kills his sweet friend, braelisk?. (Weird that you never find out who saved Harlo tho?)

That really pissed me off. I'm gonna be honest I cried, that kid just wanted to see the city he'd been denied his whole life in the mines. Heartbreaking.

It was Balam Nom (distant relation to Rallick and Torvald who saved Harllo. But agreed, Snell was an oik.

Mother Dark.

The Goddess goes off sulking in some corner, and, when none other than her own son sacrifies himself, voila, she's ready to welcome her own people back into her motherly arms. Problem solved.

I could do without Sergeant Hellian. Her perpetual drunken stupor forces me to skip her parts.
And, while I like Kruppe, his know-it-all attitude annoys me. Plundering other people's secrets without a care ranks highly on the list of things that piss me off.

That would be Bellam Nom. :D

I liked Helian, and her ability to function more efficiently while drunk - the barrel lid/shield mix up was great, along with the plan to take Lether 'tavern by tavern'.

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

About Hellian, I think it's more of her being a liability that annoys me. The others have to look out for her because she can't reason well enough. Her drunkenness is an added weight.

Actually she works better when she's drunk, it's painfully obvious from her action in an intoxicated state.

And the others don't suffer from her drunkness either for that matter. Sure, they always try and look out after her, but when she's drunk they don't need to since at that point she's a darned good soldier. It's when she's sober that she gets dangerous for those around her...

Sorry Hinter, I meant that to be more of a 'helpful correction' than 'pedantic and smug comment.' :D
