At one point in their travels, Udinaas comments that the wyval has gone away and may never return.

I'm drawing a blank - did anyone catch any hint of where it went and what it was doing?

I think Silchas Ruin killed it, or another member of the party did. It may have been too loyal too Udinaas, or something along those lines.

But... didnt it come back?
It was loyal to Rake.
It attacked Udinaas while Clip sliped his string around Fear's neck.
And Seren blasted it to pieces with her mind?
Or am I imagining things again?

@Abyss... I was wondering that too, I bet we find out later in the series.

It wasn't the Wyval that attacked Udinass but rather the Wraith Wither, who was annihilated by Seren Pedac in the confrontation.

The last we saw of the Wyval was in MT when it was fighting Sheltatha Lore in the grounds of the Azath and the wraith Wither was going to help it. In RG Udinass mentions that Ruin sent it away, "most likely never to return" which is all we know about what happened to it.

I think its having a party with Harlest Eberict and Jimmy Hoffa

no, the wraith is Wither, and the blacksmith who threw Phaed out of the window is called Withal.

I thought that the wyval got written out of the story because he was a bit of a woeful bloke/monster.

Withal was a weaponsmith. Wither was a wraith. The wyval wasn't Wither, nor Withal. Whence wyval went, we wonder? WheeEEEEeeEEEeEeeeee....

But yes, my recollection was that Silch sent it away somewhere, purpose unknown.

- Abyss, wah wah wah waaaaaaah.

I reckon "Silchas sent it away" is code for "Silchas killed it."

Why would he do that? It saved him from Sheltana's grip and was presumably loyal. I see your point about possible other loyalty to Udinaas, but it's not like Udi was all that much of a threat to anyone. Wither would have taken him out if Seren hadn't shattered the wraith.

- Abyss, thinks we've not seen the last of our wicked winged wyval.

Udinaas probably knows where/why it went since he knows it is never coming back. I belive that if it was killed he would say so, not just that it was gone.

I agree, silchas is short enough on loyal allies as it is to needlessly kill one. It's more likely that the wyval has been sent to perform a task for ruin, rather than him killing it. After all the wyvals primary loyalty was to ruin, not to udinass, as we can see from the state it left udinass in whilst rescuing him.

Top Five Things the Wyval was possibly doing during RG:

5. Recruiting other surviving wyvals for Silch';
4. Locating Drift Avalii, maybe for the Throne of Shadow;
3. Locating Rake;
2. Trying to wash the taste of Udinaas out of its mouth;
1. Trying to figure out how to pronounce 'locqui wyval' with a mouth full of fangs.

- Abyss, hey, didn't the wyval used to be invisible?

6.) Was sent to get a bumper pack of Andrex for Ruin. Double Velvet with Aloe Vera. Cos lets face it Millenia in an Azath youd really need to go and it must be hell wiping your own butt if your a dragon.
"I think i was a bad person before. Before this time. I do not try to be good now but i am not bad. Perhaps if i try harder i may get a better hand dealt next time? But surely that makes it pointless? Perhaps i am good. Just good at being pointless. But that would make me bad. Bad at having a point. Ah…. I see now. I was nothing before, I am nothing now. I am bad purely because im pointless. "
