Now I'm sure this supposition has been stated but I'm nearly at the end of a re read of midnight tides and now i believe i know where Scabbys Soul resides.
I think its within the Sword of Chaos that Rhulad carries. Given to him from the Chained God.
It resides within two shards of metal that have been smelted / worked into the blade.
They are the black broken shards of the knife used to stab Ruin in the back by Scabby.
A couple of phrases from the book have stood right out and this is now what i believe.
All nicely poetical i feel.
Now, be kind and let me know what say you?

"I think i was a bad person before. Before this time. I do not try to be good now but i am not bad. Perhaps if i try harder i may get a better hand dealt next time? But surely that makes it pointless? Perhaps i am good. Just good at being pointless. But that would make me bad. Bad at having a point. Ah…. I see now. I was nothing before, I am nothing now. I am bad purely because im pointless. "

Having only just begun reading RG yesterday, I can only guess like you do.
It is however a more common theory that the fragments used in Rhulads sword are the shattered blades of Silchas Ruin. The weapons that were destroyed by the matron deathcry.
Also, read the introduction to RG in any given rewiew and you'll probably come to a new conclusion.

Apt is right about that - Rhulad's sword is made from Ruin's destroyed weapons. Scabby's knife was still in Ruin's back when he went into the Azath.

Do you know that for a fact Dolorous?

I don't think it's been spelled out word for word in the books, but it's pretty clear Withal's raw material for the sword was Ruin's blade. Just read what the CG says about it when he sets Withal the task of forging.
Not 100% on the dagger staying in Ruin's back, but Scabby left it there after the stabbing while he took him to the Azath.

Indeed, it would be reasonable that it was the dagger in Ruin's back that prevented the Andii from fighting his imprisonment. Then again maybe the dagger just delivered a binding spell like a virus, the dagger is not mentioned when Ruin crawls back out of the Azath grounds.

I mentioned the dagger as im sure when it is described it shatters or breaks in two?

Midnight Tides, on page 23, said:
The Edur Soletaken walked back towards Silchas Ruin.
He reached down to the outside of his left boot and drew out a shadow-etched dagger. Sorcery played on the iron.
A final step, and the dagger was driven into Ruin's back.
The Tiste Andii spasmed, then roared -
- even as the Edur legions turned suddenly on the Andii, rushing inward from all sides to deliver the day's final slaughter.
Magic wove writhing chains about Silchas Ruin, and the albino Tiste Andii toppled.

No further mention of the dagger, Ruin is taken straight to the Azath. Given that the magic in the dagger was clearly restraining Ruin, and Scabby immediately picked him up (in Draconean form) and then presumably dumped him in the Azath from a height rather than risking landing there, there's no scope or reason for Scabby to take the dagger out.
That's why I said it remained in Ruin's back. Perhaps Ruin himself comments on this later, once he starts talking to people, but I can't remember or find any such reference.
It certainly did not shatter or break in two - you may be thinking of Ruin's own weapons, which were described as broken a few pages before.

Sorry, I see only the CG saying, "Make me a sword... a very particular sword." Then the Prologue ends. Might you do me the honor of explaining your statement further?

Currently separated from my books. Can anyone else jump in with a quote here, sounds like I'm remembering this wrong?

I can't find any mention of Ruin's swords being used. He doesn't even have them when he is betrayed, because they were already broken.

Rhulads blade was made from the broken shards of Ruin's twin swords. The shards were collected (at least we have a pov from Ruin speculating on why they were collected together) and the CG gave them to Withal.
Now as for the knife that was used to stab Ruin, I don't recall any mention of it still being in his back - although in later books there is a reference to the wounds.
Just found the reference :
‘They were shattered,’ the Betrayer said. ‘Long ago. Fragments scattered across a battlefield. Why would anyone want them? Those broken shards can never be reunited. They are, each and every one, now folded in on themselves. So, I wonder, what did he do with them?’
Trull - ‘Did you look closely at that blade? Oh, skilfully done, but there are . . . shards, trapped in the iron. Of some other metal, which resisted the forging'

Thanks Hetan, I was worried I was talking rubbish about it being verified that Rhulad's sword was made from Ruin's.

I have not seen the knifecome up yet, only the scars in Ruins back as to where Scabby;s soul resides its probablyin something like raests sould was in and one of the Elder gods has probably tucked it away for a rainy day.

Dunno, it's a shadow-dagger, but the Edur put Shadowswords in their blackwood trees to sanctify their longhouses. The one at the Sengar residence emerged partly out of the living wood again. If they put those swords in trees, I don't think a dagger will matter. It's not like it's dragnipur or something.
