Just read Sunshine by Mckinley and I have to say this the first book dealing with vampires and a vampire mythos (as a central theme to the book, rather than a smaller element in a larger world aka Butcher/Dresden) that I have thoroughly enjoyed since George R.R. Martin's Fevre Dream. Told from the viewpoint of a young woman who lives in a world recovering from a wounds of a magical war, where the supernatural sits side-by-side with the everyday. With liberal lashings of humour, actions and suspense a somewhat familiar storyline is enlivened into a fairly gripping read.

Ive been tempted myslef by this one....but the vampire genre gets so tired...but this does sound interesting, and McKinley IS good after all. Maybe I'll give this a shot.

You should Tidal. McKinley is gold. The story is absolutely awesome. She manages to make a tired genre work itself into a very very interesting story.
I've read the book twice now, and am due for another read in probably another half-year. I just can't get tired of it. I honestly wish she was a more prolific writer and that that would tranlate into more stories set in this Earth she created.

Yeah, read it all. She's a good author. The Hero and the Crown and The Blue Sword are probably one of my fave series.

I read the hero an the cron a long time ago, but don't remember too much about it. In fact, I couldn' even remember the title or author until someone on this site helped me out. I remember i did enjoy it though.
