Now, did other people pick up the significance of this? I hear people talking Karsa this and Karsa that, but at some point his future will be curtailed. What is the 'big thing' he will do (fight rhulad, or iccy or lead and army of TTT to kill all children) , and 2nd will Calm be able to stop him (i think yes) Anyway just thought that was a powerful paragraph... probably the best part of the long karsa opening save maybe finding the carved stone that tells of the fallen status of the Teblor. SE doesnt usually just through crap like that out there without any greater purpose. (though for all i know Karsa's story may not end in these 10 books) Anyone have any thoughts on any of this?

I do worry slightly for Calm. Interesting character and all, to be sure. Forkrul Assail are, on the face of it, very hard customers indeed, but even so, I fear she won't be prepared for just how devious and canny Karsa Orlong has become... nor the fact that his flint sword can now, apparently, fight on its own, and at least one of the souls within it will bear her quite a hefty grudge.

Assuming that Traveler is Dassem (cough), the line that Icarium has during his brief visitation of Drift Avalii is all the more tantalising. If he sensed one who could destroy him (and I do believe that Dassem holds the ability; I wouldn't put it past him to be the Seguleh First...) and that somebody was Traveller, an interesting "who would win" bracket appears between Dassem, Karsa, and Icarium.

Throw Rhulad into the mix, Mappo, Taralack Veed, not to mention any of the various other champions SE can pull out of his hat, discounting Silchas Ruin and Rake, putting on hold Tool, Mok, Iron Bars, and Skinner (whew) and I come up with Reaper's Gale being the most anticipated book of my life.

Oh yeah, and we still have Calm to contend with. And the KCCM. I think Karsa could best the Forkul Assail this time around, though there is certainly no telling how Bairoth Delum will fare.
