I've seen this around the place and it looks promising, but with other books out there (Winterborn, Scar Night, Elantris, In The Eye of Heaven, etc) I'd like some feedback before choosing this over others.

Cheers.

I finished this a week or two ago, and really enjoyed it. The book consists of three short stories, but all based around the same characters, and with enough common themes running through them to avoid it being too disjointed. I suspect the book loses something in the translation from the original, and it is obvious at times that it has been translated (assuming you're going to be reading the english version) but it doesn't detract much from what is an excellent story, and a well worked-through back-drop.

Certainly worth the read, I would say ;)

I read it a few months ago, after seeing the movie at the arts theatre. Great book, obviously translated though. In other words, I agree with Brood.

Read it. It's pretty nifty.

The Day Watch has already been published over here, I saw it in Waterstones over the weekend...
If an opinion contrary to your own makes you angry, that is a sign that you are subconsciously aware of having no good reason for thinking as you do. If some one maintains that two and two are five, or that Iceland is on the equator, you feel pity rather than anger, unless you know so little of arithmetic or geography that his opinion shakes your own contrary conviction. … So whenever you find yourself getting angry about a difference of opinion, be on your guard; you will probably find, on examination, that your belief is going beyond what the evidence warrants. Bertrand Russell

I just started reading Night Watch this week. A Dutch translation from the library. I'm only at page 50, but so far so good.

The trilogy is good, imho - I am even considering refreshing my Russian to read the originals...

Just finished the book yesterday. It was a fun, action packed read.

I've borrowed the movie today, but have yet to watch it.

There is already the fourth book in the series "The Last Watch". I read it about 5 month ago and it is even better than the first 3. Probably they are going to translate it soon as well.
