Grabbed the new bundle as well for all the Abe and lobster books. Is there anything still missing from it from the mignolaverse? Just the witch finder books?

I just finished TMNT ULTIMATE COLLECTION #3. I've gotta give this one a 5*. The creativity that pops up when Eastman and Laird started working on their own stories were overall a boon to the series and made for some fun single issue stories but Return to New York was just fantastic top to bottom.

Heading back into the Mignolaverse with BPRD Omnis #2 now.

Am looking fwd to the Eastman/Laird collections once i'm done w the IDW modern run. I've read a lot of it, out of order and over years (i have a 1st ed black n white Raphael #1, first appearance of Casey Jones, that is a prized possession). I expect that reading it all in sequence will be fun.

BPRD: I'm through THE DEAD now and working on WAR ON FROGS. Doing WAR ON FROGS before THE BLACK FLAME since that's the order it's in in the omni.
There's something bugging me, but it's spoilery up until this point.

Apropos of nothing, make sure not to miss out on RISE OF THE BLACK FLAME when. you get there in the reading order...it's a short prequel that I truly enjoyed...almost more than the main BPRD BLACK FLAME stuff, and it also connects to the wider Mignolaverse with Lobster Johnson and Sir Edward Grey (WITCHFINDER). Well worth your time, and shows how small doses of Mignola can pack a punch.

I'll make sure to pick that up when it's time, looks like it's a good way down the reading order.

Finished Jeremy Adam's Flash run and thought it was very good.

I also finished Hama's latest GI Joe Real American hero. I liked it a lot. I'm also wokring my way through his origianl Marvel run omnibus. Liking it so far.

Read the latest couple of issues of Ultramega by James Harren. Love this, especially the art.

Been chipping away at Doctor Strange starting from the beginning on and off for a while now. I'm in Stan Lee territory now. It's a bit dated, but overall it holds up and I am really enjoying it. Going to to continue my F4 read through. I'm only in the teens now.

Always wanted to read Kirby's Fourth World. Comixology has all 4 volumnes for $1.99 each. Couldn't resist. Last night I started Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen, which I heard was the weakest entry, and so far I love iit. I was expecting to have to push my way through this. But I couldn't stop reading. This went places I did not expect. Love the world-building.

Humble Bundle strikes again , the new Metal Hurlant/Moebius/Metabarons/more bundle has an INSANE amount of quality work in it. Also a bunch of stuff that's borderline softcore porn so ymmv if you wanted to ask for it for the holidays, but otherwise, the complete Incal, Metabarons, Carthago, plus plus plus for $35 is a steal.

Ugh, a lot of Jodorowsky there....the man is...problematic to say the least.

But 59 items for $25 is a goddamn steal.

Kobo has the WITCHFINDER Omnis half off. So that completes pretty much everything.

I don't know if Tom Taylor is the best writer in superhero comics at the moment but he might be the funnest. Went out and splurged on the next three trades of his Nightwing run - bringing me up to six- and it's an absolute blast. His Superman: Son of Kal-El run was great fun too. Can't wait to see what he's bringing to Batman, though given I do only buy in trade, it'll be a while lol.

Also picked up the first two volumes of Tom King's Wonder Woman. Only just started, but it's very ambitious, both in themse and how densely it's written- it's trying to be a blockbuster comic and a political-spy drama, so there's a lot going on. It does have an odd start, though- I don't think I'm the only one who's noted King's tendency to lean on outside narration. It's a great trick when it works and there are times when it's effective (through the first two issues at least) but it takes a clumsy framing story to set it up.

Still, three issues in now and it is, overall, pretty fucking badass.

Moebius was really into truncated/poorly written stories that end up as plot devices to jam hermaphrodite imagery and metaphysical incest type things along those lines into the art. It comes across as obsession rather than inclusion or legit exploration.

Guy could really draw and had a flair for catchy character design, yet his works always fall apart in similar ways and I didn't think any were truly worth reading in the long run, even accounting for "influence".
