Had the writing been as strong I think I would have cared less about the change in art.

I found that the plot was clunky and vague, the dialogue was weaker and the four leads inconsistent with the last two collections, even the characters' actions seemed off.

I have monstress on my pull list, the art grabbed me on first one. There's a lot going on in it and takes time to get there.

Looks like volume 1 comes out July ? I would without a doubt pick it up for sure.

Bought the first 12 issues of Geoff Johns FLASH run (long pre-flashpoint) and plan on reading the entire run (not sure how many issues)...excited to get stuck in as I know very little of the Flash pre-New52 (and I know that it's Wally West as opposed to Barry Allen)

If you find yourself enjoying the character, I highly recommend going all the way back to Grant Morrison's 90s run on The Flash. Haven't read it for a long while, but I remember it being excellent.

Mind you, just about anything Morrison wrote in the late 80s and 90s is superb.
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

That was going to be my second destination after finishing Johns run, but good to know it was excellent!

As a better-read comics man than me I'm assuming the answer is 'yes', but just in case - have you read Morrison's run on Animal Man? HOLY SHIT IT'S SO FUCKING GOOD.

My best friend has bought me the trades for it over the last few years on my Bday or Xmas. I love it so much!

I understand a lot of the critiques of Morrison, but that and his original JLA run will always make him comics royalty as far as I`m concerned.

It's kinda funny - his run on JLA was one of my first real intros into superhero comics so it seemed pretty standard to me at the time and has shaped how I look at the genre in a big way but looking back it's kind of mindblowing how Grant Morrison let DC give their flagship model to someone who made it so fucking weird. Even by superhero comics' decidely odd standards. I mean that in the best possible way.

If DC want to rescue their movie universe with the Justice League films and keep it relatively dark while also being gloriously silly and OTT, they could do a lot worse than start adapting some of those stories. Starting with the Starro one as a nod to the fact that Starro was the original JLA villain, but Grant Morrison's version is so creepy cool.

And the eventual, inevitable, introduction of Darkseid should obviously be an analgamation of Rock of Ages and Final Crisis (which is kind of an inferior remake of Rock of Ages anyway, but does have some superior badass moments. Imagine this on screen).

Justice (the Alex Ross series) was very good. I think he's a little weak in terms of depicting action that isn't super burly or fast (Superman, Flash, Shazam), but an excellent shower of faces and scenes.
