I have ALMOST completed my SUPERGIRL Volume 4 collecting (I've got about 10 random issues left to go)...it ran for like 67 issues...and I'll finally allow myself to read it (I decided to collected the entire volume before starting into it). So that's on the horizon.
I started the new DC BOMBSHELLS comic (penned by Margeurite Bennet) which is based off the wildly successful statuette line which reinterprets the female DC heroes as 1940's versions. So the comic is basically an alt-world tale where the DC female heroes (and villains) pop up in the 1940's as WWII is raging, and begin to fight enemies at home and abroad. It's actually REALLY excellent so far. Example of coolness factor: They've made StarGirl and Supergirl into sisters raised in the wilds of the Soviet Union who become a part of the famed Nachthexen (Nightwitches).
Bought the first trade of Mark Waid and Mike Wieringo's run on FANTASTIC FOUR as I heard it was as good as Hickman and Eaglesham's run a few years later. It's really good...it's not quite at Hickman levels, but Waid sure does a great job with them.

Dan Slott's SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN.
Historically i have never been a spider-fan. Not my style of comic. But Marvel Meth just finished collecting the SPIDERVERSE story, and based on all the pos hype i do want to read that, so i did the usual thing and checked what series' it covers and started them from a few storylines back.
Slott's SUPERIOR run was the core title for a major storyline plot thing where
SPOILERS
SPOILERS
SPIDER-SPOILERS
Doc Ock brainswapped with Peter Parker, who apparently dies.
The best part about it is Ock assessing what a complete wreck Parker's life is, then proceeding to correct all the problems...
Parker never finished university... so Ock completes a doctorate in his spare time.
Parker was a minion scientist in someone else's company. Ock sets up his own company.
Parker was reactive. Ock starts hunting down badguys, doing his homework and kicking their asses.
Parker worked alone or with the Avengers. Ock sets up his own spiderbase, recruits an army of entirely legitimate soldier mions, and arms them with spidertanks.
SPIDERTANKS!
Parker was obsessed with getting back w MJ. Ock laters her and takes up with a genius physicist gourmet chef little person and actually moves in with her within a few months.
Parker had a thing with Black cat. Ock breaks her nose and throws her ass in jail.
Parker had to deal with Jameson. Ock gets dirt on JJ and blackmails him.
He makes the spiderwebbing stronger. He stocks up on cool gadgets. He had a little armada of mini spiderdroids....
....basically, Spiderman is made infinitely cooler by becoming a domineering egoistic mad scientist.
The only weak point in the story is perhaps its end.... it makes sense in the context of the bigger story, but makes the ultimate Big Bad perhaps more effective than the story actually shows them to be to make the point that Parker has to come back.
It's good fun, recommended.

...and then on to AMAZING....
Captain America: Why are you wearing pants?
Spiderman: Doc Ock changed my web formula. I didn't know and needed web underwear in a hurry and now my pants are stuck and i really need to pee.
Damn. Slott has made me a spidey-fan.
Didn't think it would ever happen.
And then SPIDERVERSE.
Y'know... i haven't been a fan of the multi-title mega comics crossover for a long time, but this was great.
No whole universe at stake, no stupid crossovers with Ghost Rider or whatever.... just thirty or so alternate universe Spideys (more or less... some are family/clones/copycats) trying desperately not to be killed by a small group of enemies who consider them food.
The characters stay in character, the few crossovers (more like spinoffs) were actually part of the story, the fights were AWESOME.
I'm a sucker for alt-universe stories, but Slott took this to a whole other level... the guy clearly loves the property to have gone as far as he did to incorporate so much spiderman history yet make the story so easy to follow.
It's all on the Marvel Unlimited app, worth the money/time.

I don't care for Slott as a human. He's kind of a jerk. Which is why I probably wouldn't give his writing a shot.

Am unaware of this. What little i saw had to do with general 'how DARE he!' reaction to the Superior Spiderman story and his unwillingness to back down before the more rabid fanboys (these seem to be the same people still bitching about the Pete-MJ married devil thing like a decade later).
Is there something more?

Random twitter comments, arguments with other creators on forums, in a few interviews. Nothing I can finger at the moment, just know that I've seen his name attached to some high class bitchery which rubbed me wrong enough to not bother with him.
Nothing offensive mind you...just dickish comments.
Usually twitter arguments, and a personal taste that he shoves around as if it's gospel.

Huh, wasn't aware but i don't follow comic pros lives very much these days if their names aren't Ellis, Kirkman or Hickman. Sometimes Loeb
So long as he's not a racist, misogynist or other'ist i'm cool with still enjoying his work.

Ugh.
DC is planning something called REBIRTH.
I think this may be them going back to pre-flashpoint continuity (soft reboot) and deep sixing the New52.

Sigh. I haven't well-followed the New 52 but although some of the new ideas I wasn't fond of, there was good work there.
Also when Infinite Crisis came out it was a big deal because it was the first time, afaik, that they'd mest with the whole continuity and the multiversal thing on a large scale since Crisis on Infinite Earths two decades previous. It felt special. In the decade since then, they can't fucking stop.
I just read an article suggesting that with the title, and Geoff Johns, who's written two events titled 'Rebirth previously, involved (a good sign, to be fair), it may be about basically bringing characters to something like what they're best-known as, in order to better sell books off the back of the movies, and won't necessarily entail an actual continuity reboot.
We'll just see, I guess.
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

I think you'd enjoy. It's mad crazy science and dimension hopping and action and alternate universes with a nice dose of character dev.
And without the constraints of a shared universe, Remender can be pretty fucking merciless.
...and the pace... most issues feel like they actually happen in less than the ten or so minutes it takes to read them. In a collected format with 5-6 issues at a time, it's glorious and exhausting.

All over the comics press today... DC is trying to spin control like mad, and Geoff Johns of course is all positive, but they're totally rebooting the Nu52niverse.

The most interesting thing in there might be that Hellblazer is getting a Rebirth. Given that every indication is that whatever goes down exactly, this is a return to more classic versions of characters, I strongly suspect we're getting proper old John back. But, of course, he was rarely part of the DCU proper, so it'll be interesting to see how that goes down, especially seeing how hard they pushed the new52 one as essentially their magic equivalent of Batman.
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

It actually sounds more like just new #1's (except ACTION and DETECTIVE which are ging back to PRE-Nu52 numbering...so that's cool) for existing stuff, and bringing back missing stuff (LSH, BoP ect.).
I don't think it's a reboot of the universe, just a rejigging of numbering to bring back missing things from pre flashpoint.
Which just means that they like the Nu52 on the whole...but that they are aware that shit is missing.
Unless something drastic happens (like bringing Stephanie Brown back as Batgirl) in Rebirth....I doubt I'll be collecting any of it.

Yeah, you're probably right. I'd love to give Johns the benefit of the doubt here...but yeah.

It's called Rebirth, come the fuck on
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.
