Really liked the beginning. Really liked how they somehow managed to make the Joker even more disturbing and unhinged. That skin mask was so fucking freaky. Some of the artists made it look silly but some of the others. Oh boy.

Really hated the ending. Maybe it's because I've never bothered to get into DC and so I have no emotional attachment to any of them but there's like 4 robins and a batgirl now. Why not just kill one of them. Just one. He didn't even mutilate any of them. No maimings. No paralyzing. Hell, Alfred hardly even had a bruise after being beaten to a pulp with a hammmer. The least they could have shown us was Joker actually cutting off their faces.

The build up of this series promised something truly horrible. A revisitation of one of the most painful Batman stories and they didn't even kill a single important character.

For them to kill off a character would mean ending another DC series since every member of Bat-Fam has their own series. The whole point of Joker doing what he did was to reveal to the fam that Bruce has been hiding info from them, putting them in danger by not telling them certain things causing them to lose trust in Bruce and not want to be part of the team anymore. Notice the name Death OF the family, not Death IN the family like when JT died back in the 80's.

After DoTF Batman makes a turning point into this Year Zero crap where they re do Bruces origin (IDK why I guess Snyder wanted to leave his mark upon the Batman franchise). I'm not a huge fan of where its going but hopefully they can get back to what they did with Court/Night of Owls.

Total score this week! I got most of these from the resale bin. I only payed full price for Saga and Dresden and it all came out to less than $30. I also got a My Little Pony and a scribblenauts and a Wizard for the kids. Total score! The Preacher was $2.99 and in great condition.

I was pretty impressed with Trees #1, Warren Ellis' newest title. I think it has a lot of potential but I don't want to get too excited just yet. Definitely plan to see where Ellis takes the story though.

Also, Image Comics has the title for free at the moment so I recommend checking it out.

Wicked + Divine is on my radar too, but I don't like to spend money on single issues. Will wait for a cheap TPB or a free issue. Black Science #1 is free, or at least it was when I downloaded it. Haven't read it yet, but I'll give it a looksee and let you know.

In other news, Rachel Rising Vol. 1 is half off at comixology. I loves me some Terry Moore.

I've been reading Skyward, an excellent YA fantasy, and also dirt cheap at comixology.
