  • Hello

Posted 11 October 2010 - 02:07 AM

I don't know if they've been mentioned before, too many pages to read thru, but they are my favourite heavy metal band,

High On Fire

I recommend all 5 albums, but specifically,

Fireface (from Art Of Self Defense)
Hung, Drawn & Quartered (Surrounded By Thieves)
Devilution (Blessed Black Wings)
Rumors Of War (Death Is This Communion(best album))
Snakes For The Divine (Snakes For The Divine)

Epic barbarian metal.

Been a big fan of rap for many years, but i have to say i hate the stupid lyrics, and ridiculous posturing of so many of the more recent acts.

While his output (like so many others) can be patchy in terms of quality, Saul Williams has written some great tunes with interesting subject matter. Pretty idiosyncratic style too, in that he is more of a poet that does rap, which certainly informs his lyrical delivery. This track takes a while to get into, but is a good intro to his stuff.

Saul Williams - Twice the First Time

fancied listening to something a bit more uplifting, so i went and dug up this classic tune from the "Tropicalia" movement in Brazil in the late 60's/early 70's. Always makes me feel happy.
