Going through my itunes library and deleting most of my old playlists so that i'll actually listen to more of the music i have. turned on the GENIUS feature too which has been a nice shortcut for finding decent songs quickly. So hopefully i can recommend some slightly more obscure tunes which are great rather than just recycling classics.

To my mind, this track by Roots Manuva has to be one of the best remixes i've heard. Way better than the original in my opinion.
ROOTS MANUVA - CHIN HIGH (Manuvadelics Version)

It's off the Ninja Tune compilation album, YOU DON'T KNOW - NINJA CUTS
I like how NInja Tune records occasionally release a mix album by one of their resident dj/artist/producers, and then also releases a box-set of all the tracks used to make the mix. Often a source of great songs, and great remixes.

Here's another track from the same mix.
DAEDELUS - Fair Weather Friends

The Moldy Peaches - "Anyone Else But You"

in their fury, and so were cast out,
doomed children of Mother Dark.

Now all the friends that you knew in school they used to be so cool, now they just bore you.

These guys are presently on almost constant rotation in my car and on my headphones at work.

Trippy music video:

Live prowess, different song (and prolly my favorite):

Flipping heck, I love this song! Wonder why I haven't come across them before? Some pretty sweet jazz right there...

I pretty much only listen to metal, but I haven't been able to stop listening to "Up on the roof" and a few other songs by The Drifters.... Makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside

Pass out just won Tinie Tempah the award for best British single at the Brits tonight:

Personally, I prefer Miami 2 Ibiza, which has been stuck in my head for the past couple of days:

Edit: Also just checked out a couple of Pendulum songs, and they are indeed awesome!

"But I saw you [Snake]…faced by Anomander [Mandy] himself. How did…"
"I escape? Well, I dazzled him with fancy words, edging ever closer, then used my ninja skills to strike like a cobra, knocking the sword [Spamnipur] away and drop-kicking him over the side before tumbling backwards, slaying another Piss'd Andii on the way."
Silence. Lots of silence. "Fine!" He shrugged and grinned, "Someone hit him in the face with a coin, and he cursed just long enough for me to get away." ~ Excerpt from Gardens of the Tea Spoon

Having been inspired by this^^^

Pendulum - Violet Hill

It's a cover, but it's so much better than the original (admittedly not difficult).

Pendulum opened for Linkin Park last week, but we got there late and missed them...and now I am sad cause they are pretty damned awesome and apparently the live show was bananas!

Meh, while I still don't particularly love it, I still prefer the Coldplay original.

On a somewhat related note, anyone listen to djearworm? His mashups are pretty amazing, particularly his annual United State of Pop (2008 and 2009 are the best, in my opinion, though 2010 is starting to grow on me), both with regards to the actual audio, but also with the videos as well.

The United State of Pop 2008 samples Viva la Vida for the beat:

Kind of sounds like the Ting Tings meets the White Stripes. I like it.

Blue Foundation - eyes on fire.

I'd post a vid, but apparently the song was used for Twilight the Movie, so there is no youtube version available without sparkling vampires. And I don't want your retinas to burn out.

So, instead:

These guys are awesome:

The problem with people who have no vices is that generally you can be pretty sure they're going to have some pretty annoying virtues.
