Quite a fan of hip hop, but while i can respect the production values of many artists, i get tired of the cliched posturing, and often trite lyrics.

While his output can be kinda patchy, I have to say i like SHAD, a canadian rapper who thankfully refrains from the gangsta stuff (I think he's currently finishing his MBa). This track is one of my favourites of his most recent album, TSOL, but that's cos i like quite chilled out tunes, with a measured vocal delivery.

For a rap song, I didn't instantly and utterly hate that...

Good to hear. But i'm sure there will be plenty of rap fans who will be happy to declare their hate for it :)

This video is pretty cool, as it shows another canadian rapper/producer (CLASSIFIED) putting together a track live on stage (i was a bit disappointed to see that it had already been recorded on an album and not actually done on the fly). The whole thing is just over 5 mins long, and takes a bit to get into as he does each element of the track individually, and then puts them all together.

The last 90 seconds are great though.

CLASSIFIED - Beatin' It (Live)

I've liked this guy for a few years now and forgot to post this when I saw it on Jool's Holland, perfect sunday morning chillout music.

Slightly melancholic, the guy has got a voice like warm honey that gently cuddles your ears.

Now all the friends that you knew in school they used to be so cool, now they just bore you.

Finally found this clip since the BBC were pretty good at taking down the Jools Holland clips for a while. Might have posted it ages ago in another thread but it's always worth a look.

One of New Zealand's finest, LIAM FINN doing the song "Second Chance" live on Jools Holland. Absolutely amazing to see him live, particularly in a small venue. He can really do loud when he wants to.
This song has quite a slow build up, but the last 90 secs or so are awesome, as he loops a few guitar riffs to allow himself to finish the song off on the drums. Super talented guy. Looks like Animal from The Muppet Show when you see him drumming live. got a few nice shots of the gig too :hulk:

I dunno what song it is cos its on in the lounge and its not my CD. It's a bit pop-punky & I don't like that bit but theres a pretty nice piano riff going on underneath...

Refused - ANYTHING I CAN GET MY FREAKING HANDS ON!!!!!!!

Man, I love this group! Seriously, how have I not heard anything about them before this?? They have this weird prog/punk/metal/weirdness style going on, and you never know what to expect in a song! The album "The Shape of Punk to Come" is mindblowing!

Also absolutely LOVING a band from Oz (I think) called The Cat Empire - think Jazz/salsa/swing/soul/other stuff fusion with some incredibly bouncy rhythms and tunes!

The Cat Empire are from Oz? Wiki tells me they're from Melbourne! Huh, didn't know that. Anyway, yeah, they're brilliant. I saw them in Sydney a few months back. Magnificent, one of the best concerts I've ever been to. Go see 'em whenever they go to the UK Tiste, you won't regret it.
