Awww... Man! Nearly!!

@Darkwatch - have found that in general, they do seem to be more up-tempo than Metallica, whose music isn't all that fast, whereas the double kick bass pedal seems to be a prominent feature of Nevermore.
And I could have played them a track I guess, I think I had my MP3 player on me at that point.
And their myspace claims that they are metal with elements of thrash and prog in there.

Its true that the drums have a lot of thrash elements, but much of the guitar and bass, not to mention the vocals are in general far less up tempo, but the heavy side they have gives that true rich sound that thrash simulates but never actually acheives, since a careful listen reveals how superficial it is. Nevermore are in my book in terms of sound better then Metallica.

Oh yeah, I completely agree. Nevermore are a lot better than Metallica. I do like Metallica, but Nevermore have a much richer sound to them, I feel.
It is quite fun to see the misinformed people look at me with shocked faces going "Heavier than Metallica? Gosh!"

My god, who are these people? There's a lot of stuff heavier then Metallica, Amon Amarth for example, and lets not get into Cannibal Corpse. Metallica is nowadays not all that heavy in comparison with whats out there.

Well these are people who go as heavy as My Chemical Romance or something. Someone the other day asked me what death metal was... But it's OK, she is hot.
The heaviest I have are among the likes of Opeth, In Flames, Insomnium, Becoming the Archetype etc. I love it!
