On this re-read of MOI - it's my third or fourth, I think - I found my attention snagged by the whole Burn/Mhybe comparison, and it got me thinking. They Mhybe "sleeps to dream" - she has to hold an entire world in her dream. Just like Burn, right?
But Burn has only been sleeping for a little more than a thousand years. So how did she "hold the dream" when she was awake? Yeah, okay, she's a goddess - I guess she can do things that the Mhybe can't. Still, though, the idea of her being awake and going around doing other things, while all along dreaming the world alive, is a little jarring.
Or maybe she wasn't. Maybe that was why she decided to go to sleep - beecause with the threat of the Crippled God, someone needed to hold the dream? If so, how did the world exist before?
And finally, if Burn embodies the entire world, wouldn't that make her an Elder Goddess? The Elder Goddess, in fact. But she's never been referred to that way. Did she take over from one of the Elder Gods? Peaceful transition, or did she just rip it away?
So many things to wonder about...

Ah, thanks! I'm still exploring the forums, and hadn't seen that. Guess I'll have to wait until I've read BH...

Oh right, sorry. Different forum.
Once you read MoI, you certainly think the world is Burn's dream, and it will end when she wakes, but people don't seem to favour that explanation on the boards. Can't really tell you why.
