What'd the five finger rings say to the face?

SLAP!
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Finished PROVEN GUILTY.

First off, DEAD BEAT is a tough act to follow. I'm trying to keep that in mind.

I enjoyed the book, but the ending/epilogue felt too long.

I did like that
Spoiler
That will certainly add some interesting conversations and insights to the characters.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

True. I had a similar reaction. For all that many dresdencrack addicts here sing high praise for PG, for me it will always be the book that came after DEAD BEAT and wasn't quite as awesome. Awesome, to be clear, but not AS awesome as DB.

Oh.... just wait.... you're going to love what happens next.
And what happens after that.
And then what happens after THAT....

I thought Proven Guilty would have been a disappointment if not for the 100 page epilogue. It had a lot of really touching character moments and wasn't what I typically looked for in Dresden, which made it refreshing.

No, I get that. I think it all just could have been tightened up a bit.

Reading SMALL FAVOR and loving it.

I am going to be seriously bummed when I finally catch up to the latest release and have to wait like everyone else. I'm getting stressed just thinking about it.

Anyone read this series by Jim Butcher?
Any good?

- Abyss, on the lookout for new series.

thought this was funny
HiddenOne. You son of a bitch. You slimy, skulking, low-posting scumbag. You knew it would come to this. Roundabout, maybe. Tortuous, certainly. But here we are, you and me again. I started the train on you so many many hours ago, and now I'm going to finish it. Die HO. Die. This is for last time, and this is for this game too. This is for all the people who died to your backstabbing, treacherous, "I sure don't know what's going on around here" filthy lying, deceitful ways. You son of a bitch. Whatever happens, this is justice. For me, this is justice. Vote HiddenOne Finally, I am at peace.

DO NOT FINISH or do but you'll feel very gloomy. I've read them all and now have to wait. It's not good. I haven't bought a book since Ghost Story.

Doesn't mean I haven't read :)

Supposedly he was having trouble with the script and it was postponed. I was on his website recently and there was no estimate on its publication.

I don't really mind. Personally I think the last couple of books haven't been quite as good as 4-10 and I'd prefer if he took more time to make the books as good as possible. Perhaps he needs to move away from the one (or two) books a year schedule.

Amazon UK and Waterstones lists it as a 3rd Jan 2013 release!

More or less certain...it won't come out in August as originally planned.

Rumoured book is more or less turned in, his deadline was first july.

People have been talking about october. It wouldn't suprise me if it appears later :p

You are crazy.

Changes took everything past the breaking point and Ghost Story gave us the investigative Dresden we didn't know we missed, while making it PROFOUNDLY emotionally affecting.

Butcher right now is untouchable as an author. It remains to be seen if his hot streak continues, but given how well he's done over the last several years, I've got full faith in him.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Apparently the next short story he does is going to take place between Ghost Story and Cold Days, and be from Molly's PoV. Very intriguing!

I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.
