Malazan Empire: Cover - Malazan Empire

Just started reading GotM. To about page 40 so far and from what I've read I was expecting the start to be excrutiating and slow and confusing but not so far. Was drawn in from the start.

But the reason I posted was I just noticed my cover of the US version is different from the one I see on Amazon.com. That one has the guy on a horse and a woman standing in front of him. My paperback copy does NOT have the woman on it at all..Just thought that was odd, I wonder why it was changed. Actually, looking at it closer..the smaller thumbnail of the cover doesn't have the woman, but when you click on it for the larger version it has the woman.
