I just finished HoC a few seconds ago, and there was just one question I had to ask;
Am I the only one who was suprised that Tavore never found out that it was her sister Felisin who had become the choosen one of the whirlwind goddess? And more so, that it was her sister (truly her sister, as by the time, the goddess was gone) that she killed with such a lack of emotion. I always figured this was how this particular story line would resolve its self, with Felisin being killed by her sister, as Felisin's story was so tragic from the beginning, it was clearly doomed to an equally tragic end. Perhaps Tavore's lack of knowledge of what she had truly done only makes it more tragic, or perhaps the story is not yet finished with her. Still Tavore (to me) was an unlikeable character, and I wanted her, at the very least, to know what she had done. Am I alone in that? Or do you folks consider it a mercy, that Pearl and Lostara never told her the truth? Or even, perhaps, am I missing something? Not that I'm dwelling on it. I just felt like rambeling before i sunk my teeth into Midnight Tides.

Keep reading the series and maybe you'll begin to see how Tavore might find out at a later time. There are other discussions of this in other places here. Lots of people are itching for the passage where Tavore finds out what she did and everyone is speculating how she, and also Paran, will react.
I think it certianly WAS a mercy that Pearl and Lostara didn't tell Tavore. But sooner or later Tavore is likely to find out, so they only delayed the inevitable. I personally sympathized with Tavore's character. She's cold iron, as is mentioned, and that makes her a distant and hardened person. But she did the best she could for being so new to her responsiblities.

Actually, the first time I read that scene I thought Tavore knew - and killed her sister anyway. Because she had to.
There's supporting reason given in BH, which I wouldn't go into, so I still think it's possible that Tavore knew all along, also knowing that she had no choice but to strike the rebellion down - she chose duty to Empire over family.

I kind of had the feeling that she did too, but it certainly wasn't made clear in the text. She had a conversation while standing over her sister's corpse with Pearl and Lastara in which they all kind of played dumb, and Pearl said, and i'm paraphrasing as i don't feel like looking it up "The one thing i can say for certain is that she died quickly."
And couldn't she have just taken her prisioner? they took Korbolo Dom prisioner. Perhaps i was just looking for a slightly "happy" ending, as I liked Felisin and had empathy for her character, and hoped, against my better judgment that she might survive.

Don't want to take this too far off-topic, but did anyone else think that all the mentions of T'Amber were weird? That is, they always seemed to be hinting at something...more. I definitely got the feeling that T'Amber was much more than her lover, or trainer.
It was almost the same feeling I got reading about Artanthos in MoI.

SPOILER QUESTION (DO NOT read this if you HAVEN'T Finished MoI, cause you'll be really really REALLY p***ed off if you do...):
.

If Im not blatantly mistaken, isn't Artanthos, the standard bearer of Dujek's crew, really Tayshrenn who disguised his form? He was the one who transformed back into Taysh and unleashed a firestorm of Telas or something right?

First of all, you don't have to put MOI spoilers in the HOC forum, anyone reading this before finishing MOI deserves to have it spoiled (mwahaha). Second, yes
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.
