I think Kellanved/Shadowthrone is the main character of the series.

You will, lest I pull you into a smurf war!

And I don't think Shadowthrone is as big as we imagine. I thnk, and this is pure speculation, that both he and Laseen get booted out by Icarium to make way for a new Empire, and thus a new book series and more anguish!

In terms of number of pages in which the character is present, I would have thought that honour belonged to Fiddler, or perhaps Paran. Mind you, it would be a fairly menial task to calculate that...

There are too many big characters to say that there is main character. It could be purely on number of pages featured, but there is loads of stuff going on behind the scenes as it were. For example Rake features in every book, but is only actually in two of them...

We can only really judge this on how much we know the characters veiw point. id say fiddler is most prominent

Or Karsa, or the CG....I mean, don't we know well enough that it's not worth clinging to the notion of a central character?? It helps to negate the devastation when s/he ends up dead or imprisoned anyway!

i agree that there not a character thaths followed around as it varitates beetween books. however on a the basis of how much we see a character fiddler takes precedent. if he died the book would carry on but we would lose a mian character just not a vital character

Karsa, and Paran both follow the typical formula of a heroic rise to power

karsa hardly heroic in title. i admit his 'i must free al slaves' moses like attitude is heroic but he doesnt really inspire me as heroic. for a start heros are modest and karsa isnt :)

Heroes don't have to be modest if they can justify their hubris. And Karsa certainly can.

Anyways, Karsa may have been the guy who has the most pages. Because even though he's not in books 1, 3, and 5, he still has an entire quarter of a book dedicated to him.

Also, Fiddler is in four of the six books, as well as Quick Ben. So maybe Quick Ben has as much air time as Fiddler. And hey, Crokus is also in 4/6 books.

I've been trying to keep up with the speculation, such as it is, and I can tell you that if the efforts on this forum are any indication of your actual thought process(es?, I'm not sure if I can discern more than one, tbh) you have no ****ing idea what's coming :D I'll sum books 1-3 up in one word for your collective benfit: guerrilla! ...make of that what you will :D

Actually, Quick's in five books - all but MT. Granted, he only has about three lines in DG, but he's in it.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

I take it then that Tavore's army will start a guerilla-style war on Lether? Or is it the Bluerose Andii that do?

Quick Ben wasn't in Deadhouse Gates, you just hear his voice through transmission.

And clearly there will be a lot of vietnam-style warfare through Reaper's Gale. That sounds very exciting. Robert Jordan tried it once, but it didn't turn out that great (Winter's Heart, Rand uses the male and female something to something the something).

Abyss likez teh thought blood.
