not ascendants as other ascendants are defined, but their ritual took away their mortality to a certain extent... welcome to the forum :p

Of course, eight T'lan Imass in Book 4 are ascended.

That confused me too, just a bit. The comment about there being no precedence for the you-know-who's ascending aside from the T'lan Imass was somewhat suggestive.

The whirlwind goddess was ascendant... so that's one of them..
and there's another, but that's from the bonehunters... so I won't post any more on her.
As for the Seven... I don't think they are...or at least the 6 that are left.... unless recovering their wepaons had something to do with it? hmm... might need to re-read that bit. :p

Maybe Kilava Onass could be counted as an aspirant ascendant?

'Ascension' is a pretty flexible concent, but my take is that it generally means moving beyond the baseline for that race. By becoming undead, every single T'lan I'mass became near immortal - they don't age and they are VERY difficult to kill. On that basis i'd say the entire race, with a handful of exceptions who went other ways, 'ascended'. They aren't gods, but they are ascendants.

Kilava is a soletaken and a bonecaster, and so she probably meets the definition, in the sense that all soletaken are ascendants, even tho all priests and mages are not.

The Whirlwind goddess was a goddess, and was worshipped, so by definition she ascended, even tho she was ultimately killed. Technically, she is an ascended T'lan I'mass, in that she exceeded the baseline even for undead Imass.

- Abyss, descendant.
