Did anyone see the UEFA-cup final last night? I couldn't find it on any channel so I was left with text updates. Sounds like Sevilla dominated it through and through.

Middlesborough were a complete shambles, a boring match unless you were a seville fan. It was on RTE 2 - Irish channel.

I wasn't going to resurrect this thread, but then I thought...stuff it!

Great win this morning (my time). I woke my housemate up with my swearing, and then hooting and hollering. Never the easy way, even at OT. Some tasty teams through to the CL knockout rounds though, could have some crackin' match-ups. I'm scared we'll get Real (and Ruud)...Barca would be bad too...

Real would probably be considered a good draw, I would think. Better than Milan, Lyon, Barca etc...

Well, Milan and Lyon topped their groups as did we, so we can't get them (yet). Short of Barca, Real would be the toughest draw, they're sitting second in La Liga only 1 point behind Barca atm.

True, but their champion's league form as been awful for several years - they only just got through this year too, iirc.

Only just is a bit harsh...afair Lyon were on 13, RM on 11 and Steau and Shakhtar on 4-6 apiece.

Still you're right, I'd be much more confident against them now that a few years ago. Still, they have tightened up considerably defensively, once unthinkable for a RM team.

Aye, Cannavaro has been enormous for them this season.

The table is....

1 Lyon - 14
2 Real Madrid - 11
3 Steaua Bucuresti - 5
4 Dynamo Kiev - 2

but anyway, Steaua and Kiev are hardly what you'd call top-notch champions league opposition;) And Madrid only got a draw against Kiev last night thanks to two goals in a minute from Ronaldo, one of which was a penalty.

Barca, Inter and Porto are more dangerous, I'd think.

Wait...

Brood created a thread that actually got so much attention it's close to the 1000th post.

I'm appalled.

Mmm, Barca I agree with. Inter also, given they're topping the Serie A. I'd take Porto over RM...shut down Porto's wingers and Anderson, and they're in trouble. It'd be a good tie I reckon. I'd also happily take Lille or PSV:D

Draw's next Friday. Fingers crossed...

Barca would be a glamour clash, but I want us in the semis at least in order to bump up our seeding again, we've nearly fallen out of the first pot and a decent season by Chelsea in CL will see them overtake us I think...

Boo yeah, a win in the derby!

Woohoo, the return of the Champions League...well, the qualifiers...and yes, both are misnomers considering there are actual national Champions trying to qualify and teams that don't need to play qualifiers who have not won their respective leagues for god knows how long!

Anyway, injustices aside, it looks good for Liverpool, Celtic and Arsenal now, especially for the Bhoys who might have stole the winner right at the end. No matter, away to Spartak was a potential humping at this point in the season...

Are there any Spurs or Anderlecht fans here? Aab (my team) is playing Tottenham and Anderlecht in the UEFA cup some time during the winter. :o
