Greetings! This is my first post to this forum.

I've just started reading Memories of Ice. I think I'm on chapter 4-5. I have a question which mostly comes from reading the two previous books. What's a Napan? Is it a nationality or a race? Are they blue because of makeup or is that their natural colour?

If this is stuff I will learn as I keep reading, please just say so. It's hard to tell with Erikson if he means to reveal more later or if he just never bothered to elaborate, or, in fact, if I am just too stupid to get it.

As far as I can tell, it's a race from a island/s in Quon Tali called the Napan Isles, and blue is their skin colour (there are descriptions of blue babies scaring midwives before they realise it's Napan later on). Hope that helps.
