Ah that answers my query as I wondered what had happened to Kimloc when we'd seen the Tanno seeming immune to the plague. Doh!

On the subject of Kimloc, does anyone else think he was the spiritwalker on the boat out of Ehrlitan who was killed fighting Edur?

No, for one thing Kimloc seems too senior to be staffing a ship, plus Fiddler was his first visitor since the Malazan conquest, which implies he doesn't do much travelling.

Also he was described as incredibly powerful, and only surrendered his city because he saw he would always lose to the Empire, in the end. The Spiritwalker who died on the translator's ships was definitely described as powerful, but he still failed against the Edur, and I don't think Kimloc would have.

Don't know if this has been raised before but is Baudin Temper's son?

Seeing as we're going down the route of previous characters rocking up in BH.

And I didn't think it would be fair to post it in DHG forum as Temper is nowhere to be seen then

Baudin is the son of Baudin, a somewhat infamous Talon that took a whole bunch of claws with him when he died.. Or so I remember at any rate.. been a while since I read DHG

The only reason I asked was that Baudin mentions that his father was present at the deadhouse when Kellanved & Dancer entered, having a quick glance through NOK I can't see a mention of a Baudin but it was only a cursory glance

A crafty name change perhaps?

Pearl seemed pretty sure Baudin elder had died, would have thought he'd said if there'd been any doubt.

There were lots of talons at the Deadhouse that night. It stands to reason that Baudin elder was there.

If Baudin elder was a talon it would make sense for his to be one of the many talons in NoK who were around about deadhouse even if he wasnt specifically named (i dont think any of the talons were, were they?)

jumping back a topic, I totally thought Iskara Jarak was Whiskeyjack. Samar Dev's subsequent comments about Iskara being a soldier seemed to further this theory.

- Abyss, also thought it funny when Karsa comments he would have gotten along with Jarak.

Pralt and Jasmine are the only two names that come to mind.
Although I wonder if the Talon who recognised Temper's helmet might have been Toc the Elder... but wasn't he the one known as Pralt?

Toc the Elder was a Talon? Is that NoK info, do you read more about him there? If his father was a Talon (and died in the purge?) then why would Toc the Younger join the Claw?

I definately don't recall it being said that Toc the Elder was a Talon. Where'd you get that from Hetan?

I made it up... :)

nah.. seriously.. I should amend that post.... I was musing on Toc the Elder's identity (as a sailor)and that of Baudin Elder (as a Talon) .... and the names got switcheroo'd in my stressed out, house moving and house selling brain. I apologise and will try not to post anything remotely unsensible until after the 28th... when normal service should be resumed :D
