WTF, i thought quick was white. Where does it say hes black? IDK, maby i missed somthing, but the only people that i think are black in the book are the Tiste Andii(elf like and more of a pure black) the monorath, and rhivi, although i see thaem more arabic than black due to the hair. IDK, but show me where i made my mistake

When Tattersail sees Whiskeyjack, Quick and Kalam approach her and Hairlock early on in GOTM, they're described as two black guys - Quick and Kalam - and a white dude - WJ.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Quick Ben is introduced from the very beginning as black.

If someone is from Seven Cities, they're either black or otherwise darker skinned.

And I'd say the Rhivi are like the Wickans, and more Native American-esque.

The Moranth and Barghast are black, as well.

isn't QB quite feminine- looking?

I like the watercolour one better, although it should be a bit darker.

Dal Honese are black, like the Emperor, Dassem, and Pust, and presumably Bottle, and Balm.

Napans are blue.

Don't recall any Asian analogues beyond one of the Letherii continent sub-cultures; I wonder if Assail will have East Asian patterned inhabitants (physically, that is).

Edited Correction: Itko Kanese apparently have "tilted" eyes, which I'd forgotten, and can only assume gives them an Asiatic appearance - along with long, dark hair. So I believe Apsalar, at least, looks perhaps Eurasian.

Meh, one of them are, anyway. And Pust seems funnier when you imagine him blue.

You wouldn't have imagined something that was described clearly in three different books?

barghast are black?
i like QB as looking more like don cheadle with no hair... and young.
Djimon is more like Kal (as he appears in Four Feathers, not constantine or island)

Hmm, close ... but I've always pictured Quick as having a rather lean face, even moreso than Don Cheadle. Lean overall, in fact - almost scrawny.

And I've got a mental image of Kalam as having a body like Karl Malone, but a different face.

but I can't remember reading anything about Pust being black, I guess I need to re-read the books more carefully, eh?

I'v just been re-readin GotM (maybe its on of these "GotMisms" everyone refers to..) and the Barghast seem to be more like Woads (ancient scots/celts).

Where it say they black?

Hmmm, now that you ask ... I don't remember. Paran's initial description in GotM only mentions black hair. I could swear there were a few random references to various Barghast being dark skinned, in MoI. I'll check tonight.

I dont recall anything about black Barghast, I know they often paint colours onto their skin but I dont know if the base colour is ever mentioned.

And as for actors playing rols; Morgan Freeman would have to play either Shadowthrone or Pust. It'd be brilliant. :D

I always pictured QB as black, bald and lithe, with big eyes (that have the capacity for manic-ness).
