I've had TCG 'on hand' since i finished it and i keep reading it in bits and pieces, even being neck deep in ADWD with CODEX ALERA bk1 on hold for that...

Now about 15% into HOUNDED by Kevin Hearne on my Kindle and so far it's pretty damn fine urban fantasy with a different flavorful to most of the stuff out there.
Imagine the smart-ass, wry POV voice of Harry Dresden if he were a 2,100 year old druid who knows gods (some who piss him off like Thor or main antagonist Aenghus Og), has an Irish wolfhound who he can communicate with telepathically (this is a very humerous relationship!) named Oberon, keeps his sword skills sharp by sparring with an ancient viking vampire, and basically kicks some ass when he uses his earth magic.....and you'd have an idea where this book is at even this early in the game...
...it's so good that I am considering buying the other two in the series that are already out HEXED, and HAMMERED (like Brent Weeks they published Hearne's first 3 books a month apart from one another in MMP).

That is a serious reco there, QT. I see Hearne has the first six chapters of the first book on his site too, which helps.
Once i'm through DWD, GHOST STORY, ROBOPOCALYPSE and probably Alera, i'll check this out.

Finished ADWD. GRRM, i hate you. now I have to wait another x years for the next one.
by the by, I also finshed my re-read of "the Braided Path" trilogy by Chris Woding, which was also awesome.
And I recently remebered I still have "White Luck Warrior" unread. so that book is definitely next.

While I am reading HOUNDED, and now finishing off Week's BLACK PRISM as well, I also got into the 5th STAR WARS FOTJ book ALLIES...which ain't too bad so far...Christie Golden isn't Denning or Allston, but she's doing her best and is better than Traviss at staying on topic.

And BAM! Finished with Deathmasks. This was awesome. I think I liked Summer Knight a bit more though. Think I'm going to read The Puppet Masters by Heinlein now though. Need a bit of a scifi fix cause I've been smothered in fantasy lately.

I am just about to finish The Kinshield Legacy by K.C. May It's an entertaining book and was 99 cents on my Kindle. Kindle is wonderful for finding books I would not otherwise have bought. I just downloaded 4 free novellas or Book 1s of new series.

Thanks to several of you guys mentioning it, I bought HOUNDED (Book 1 of the Iron Druid Chronicles) by Kevin Hearne. Not quite on a par with (even Early) Dresden Files, but good fun nonetheless. As an Irish person it's always amusing to see the old celtic mytholgy brought into a modern story, if only to see the familiar Irish language names (non-Irish or Scots Gaelic speakers have my sympathies for the pronunciation of the various names).
The story itself was enjoyable, and the main character is likeable which is a good start. There's even a comparison to Mouse from the Dresden Files, in that he has an Irish Wolfhound which he can talk to (their exchanges are amusing). There were several parts of the story that just didn't sit quite right with me, like he was forcing in some particular information, but it never was annoying. As a first novel though it definitely shows promise, and there is scope for a long running series should he choose.
I think I will buy the second book today, since i fancy another light read before tackling ADWD.
