I completed my full reread of the Dresden books along with short stories and now I am so utterly impatient for Peace Talks!

Currently I am reading Anathem - which is very weird, but also good.

Also reading Braided Path by Chris Wooding.

I started Consider Phlebas in audio on my way home last night and am now solidly into chapter 3. I'm seriously wondering why I waited so long to jump into Banks, I've obviously been missing something special.

I also finished Assassin's Quest yesterday and started Ship of Magic. AQ definitely got stronger around the 60% mark and I'll say that I didn't see the specifics of that ending coming.

Burrich/Molly was stupidly easy to see coming.
Verrity-as-dragon not so much. The entire carving a dragon bit was pretty cool actually.
I LOVE that Regal is killed by the ferret that then attaches yup Chade.
Chade, Nighteyes, and The Fool are the best characters in it and likely the reason I kept reading.
The Slog seemed to lift once Fitz found the City and though it was still slow past there, it wasn't as grating as Fitz solo adventures.

Its probably one of the weaker Culture novels, it mostly just get better along the way.

Currently going through Return of the Crimson Guard for a Esslemont re-read and hopefully finish his series this time. Its good being back in the Malazan world even if some of my problems remain with the book.

I've said this before bk 3 is the worst of the 6 till it hits the back half then becomes solid.

Were the other 3 you read Liveship Traders or Tawney Man?

Man, I need to reread that. I've read just about all of HPL's stories (including his co-authored stuff) but about a year ago I was skimming over CoC and realized I didn't recognize a word of it beyond the famous first paragraph.

So I am reading this book called A Dog's Purpose, and while mostly funny and quite light, it is unexpectedly poignant in places. Like I was having trouble not tearing up during my commute.

Also I finished Anathem - I am still not exactly sure what I read.

Finished my re-read of ROTCG, and I realized how much of it I’d forgotten….also how much I pretty much hated Ghelel’s storyline for being a slog….and still do. All the other bells and whistles that I liked the first time I read it still resonate with me. All in all such a solid, solid book. I admit that the Kyle/Lost Brothers/Ereko/Traveller and then Kyle/Lost Brothers/K'azz storyline is still inarguably my favourite, followed closely by the Shimmer one. Will reread STONEWIELDER at some point this year too.

Next up since I forget where I was in the first omnibus, I’ll be restarting Glen Cook’s THE BLACK COMPANY.
