I finished Alastair Reynolds' The Prefect last night. It was the last of the Revelation Space books I had to read and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

This morning I've made a start on China Mieville's The City and the City.

About halfway though LAST WISH by Sapkowski and I notice a theme. The first tale is a Dracula allegory (dealing with a Lucy Westenra character), the second is a beauty and the beast trope on its head. The third is snow white (evil stepmother and all)...but all done with a grimness and verve that I can't help but enjoy. Plus Geralt is pretty damned cool. If the rest of the writing is like this, I'm totally on board for the series.

I finished Orb Sceptre Throne last night. There were some really good parts and some what the hell parts. Overall a good read, so I'll be picking up Blood and Bone today. Now off to the OST part of the forum to necromancy some threads!

Never read so can't say. Not gotten very far into the book but it's decent, nothing earth-shattering.

It's a slower build than Long Price, but it goes along it picks up steam, the last book was really top notch. The character work is fantastic all the way.

It's been a good five years since I read The Long Price, but I do remember it being very enjoyable.

For me Long Price stands along with Acts of Caine as perhaps the two finest modern fantasy series, even though they are completely opposite to each other.

In case you don't know, Abercrombie is a troll author. Part of his appeal, from my point of view. But there are certain points in his book you will utter 'fuck!' and see a mental image of him cackling like a stereotypical arch-villain.

These are reasons that along with Erikson, Abercrombie lists as a major writing influence. I decided to kill off one character who is very endearing in quite a heartbreaking way (see mesothelioma and you have an idea of what I'm looking to do). And whilst I plotted to kill them off, all I could think about was this damned cane and my missing teeth.

After some non-fiction reading, I picked up the sixth Cal Leandros book, Blackout, and holy hell, I have missed the narrative voice so much! All right, I give up, I'm officially sold on these books. The one coming this year will be bought on release day.

Also, as a side read, I started The Testament of Mary by Colm Tóibín. It's really short and a nice counter-balance to the non-stop-attitude-rollercoaster that is Cal.
