Just over 400 pages into Leviathan Wakes. Loving it!

I was hoping you would. I think the concepts are neat colonizing the SS and the space battles are nifty. Like I said I'm not much into SciFi other then Star Wars EU novels but I fell in love with these 2 bks and I'm stoked for bk 3 in a few weeks.

Download Calibans War today!

I'll definitely be getting it! Don't know about today, though. I find it difficult reading consecutive books by the same author, for some reason. I tend to end up craving something different, rather than relaxing and enjoying the one I'm reading. So I'll probably wait a few weeks and then get it (and then get the third one . . . ).

Olympos improves on a re-read. But the ending still sucks.

That's the thing for most Dan Simmons books - the ending sucks.

Finishing The Bonehunters and halfway into Emma by Jane Austin.

Is she the one who wrote The Other Boylen Girl?

I don't think so. She wrote Pride and Prejudice, maybe you're familiar with it. :p

The thing is, the ride is always worth it.

Just read Seabury Quinn's short story "Pledged to the Dead" (free on Amazon or gutenberg.org). Jules de Grandin is basically a French Sherlock Holmes who investigates occult-related mysteries (complete with narration by his doctor friend.) It was fun, predictable in a good way, and even rather sweet at the end. De Grandin himself is a delight. I've had The Complete Jules De Grandin on my watch/wishlist for a while now; I'm going to have to bump up the priority on that.

Halfway through ACoK. It's good, but these books have way less comic relief than TMBotF.
Still, enjoying myself.

Over the weekend I read Wasp by Eric Frank Russell, and this morning I've started my long overdue re-read of Vernor Vinge's A Fire Upon the Deep, having first read it about 20 years ago. I saw Children of the Sky in Forbidden Planet last week, so figured my memory needed refreshing.

Finished a few books recently.

The Shadow Rising by Jordan. Good, but not great. Jordan is a decent enough writer, pretty good characters and some good ideas. I guess I'm in for the long haul.

Crack'd Pot Trail - I had to put it down about half way through. I guess Erikson was trying to do something different here. Maybe I just don't get it. Since Erikson is one of my favorite authors I'll finish it eventually.

A Shadow of All Night Falling by Glen Cook, first book in the Dread Empire series. I liked it a lot. I'm already into the next book October's Baby and liking it even more than the first book so far. This series supposedly influenced MBotF and I am starting to see more of it in this book.

THE QUANTUM THIEF... i'm trying, i'm REALLY trying, but it just seems like Charlie Stross' hard SF with weirder words.
Halfway thru and i've reread most of TOLL THE HOUNDS at the same time and enjoyed it more.

I have Tregellis' NECESSARY EVIL on deck and it's calling to me...

Troy Denning's Star Wars: Apocalypse wrapped up the Fate of the Jedi series about as well as I could have hoped. Still not sure what I think of the series as a whole, but I like the position it leaves the SW EU in.

Starting Ricardo Pinto's Stone Dance of the Chameleon trilogy with The Chosen. So far so good. The world he's created here is fascinating, and looks to get even crazier.

Come to think of it, I haven't really felt emotionally invested in any of the characters outside Jacen, Ben, and maybe Luke, since the NJO ended.
