Finished Jeff Salyards' Scourge of the Betrayer last night. It was good, a solid debut.

So I went to my local library and asked me to get some more of these wonderful Gaiman Sandman novels in and today I have been told that 2 more of them have arrived. Maybe I will get to read them all?? In the meantime I read The Dream Hunters and Endless Nights (not part of the main storyline as far as I can tell from Wikipedia) and I also read another graphic novel called Baskets by a chap called Craig Johnson. Quite a beautiful if somewhat sad story...

I love the author (though my experience with him is his co-authored LEVIATHAN WAKES), and I want to read the series, I just haven't gotten around to it yet, I will. Not to worry.

Do we have a separate thread for recommendations? If we do and I just can't remember where it is, feel free to move my post...

My question, however, is has anyone read Transition and/or Stonemouth (Iain Banks)? I usually read all of his stuff, although I've found some of his later work a bit harder to get on with. Should I be reading these two?

Just finished up the Magicians and the Magician King by Lev Grossman and must say I put these two off far too long for being called Harry Potter for grown ups. In a way the first book is just what I had heard, in a good way it shows just how childish a lot of the fantasy scene is while being entertaining in a gritty, dry wit and realistic way. Neither of them are the kind of book I usually find engaging far too pretentious in some ways, too little action and far too much teenage mooping about but it is a good criticism and re-interpretation of stories like Narnia and Harry Potter with a lot of in jokes. Also probably a good thing I read them both since reading just the first one I expect would be underwhelming.

Probably going for Thomas Harlans, The Shadow of Ararat next haven't re-read it in ages and it used to be a favorit.

Just took delivery of _Kushiel's Chosen_, Jacqueline Carey's sequel to _Kushiel's Dart_ which I raved about here about a month ago now. Can hardly wait to start it, and am hugely looking forward to diving back into the world she has created.

Finished up my re-read of Pratchett's NIGHT WATCH...and damned that book is still so good...probably in the top 3 of the Watch Discworld books.

Anyways, back into my first read of Stephen King's THE DARK TOWER series, with book II THE DRAWING OF THE THREE. 90 pages in and so far I am entertained.

Finished reading Jim Butcher- Storm Front. It was awesome, basically read it in one sitting. Now I am halfway through Joe Abercrombie - Best Served Cold. Super entertaining thus far.

just finished the first half of the nightside books from simon r green. pretty awesome but very similar to his deathstalker stories in sstyle and content.

Finished Ten Thousand by Paul Kearney and I enjoyed it, will definitely read Corvus at some point.

I did not care for The Dragon's Path by Abraham, I found it very boring. But, seeing as most seem to like it and are saying good things about the second book - do you recommend I read the next book? Maybe the first book was a lot of setup.

Finished Last Argument of Kings. That was truly something I've always wanted out of fantasy, and it still went down bitter. It's rare you get a series you can recommend to both your best friends AND your worst enemies. Definitely someone whose other works I'm adding to my TRP.
