Terry Brooks - THE SCIONS OF SHANNARA
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Yep, it (sadly) is just that : fan-fiction that took on a life of its own. I personally have no intentions of reading any of the three - I read a few lines of 50 Shades at my local Chapters and almost set the thing on fire, it was so bad - but my mom bought all three of them the other day...without knowing what they were about! I honestly almost broke a rib laughing at the look on her face when I told her it was basically "mommy p*rn". Let's just say that they don't have a prominent spot on her bookshelf.
Anyway! I just finished Michelle Moran's Madame Tussaud and now I think I'll start An Empire Unacquainted with Defeat. Or maybe Snow Crash, seeing as how I'd forgotten that I'd bought it.

I just love the fact that it's getting such heavy press and they are such bestsellers...since it shows that a lot of the reading masses love their guilty pleasure material...and there's nothing at all wrong with that. To my head, as long as it entertains, why not eh? Why not indeed.
Anyways, I'm being kept sublimely happy by reading Terry Pratchett's NIGHT WATCH (the last of the Discworld Watch books I'd not yet read), and (since I am enjoying so much) will probably hit up one more Discworld afterward before moving onto another author, and that will either be WYRD SISTERS or THE WEE FREE MEN.

Trying to decide what to read after Blood Rites by Butcher. Whether I should continue with the Dresden Files, or read more Caine. Decisions decisions.

I'd think about starting in on Blade of Tyshalle; it's one of the most intense and emotionally-draining books you'll ever read, and saving some lighter-fare Dresden for when you need to take a break from BoT might be a good idea.

May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

I suspect next year. Butcher could surprise us all though and work like a maniac to get it done earlier. Would rather he take his time and make it evermore THE AWESOME that the Dresden series is.

Okay. It seems as though 2012 is the year for movies and I guess 2013 will be the year for books.Or that is how it "feels"

So by this logic, we should expect Detox in 2014?

Butchers release dates for the Dresden Files have been pretty good so far (Close to one a year), but we normally have a release date before now if we are getting it this year.

Are you confusing Butcher and Sanderson there?
It is perfectly monstrous the way people go about nowadays saying things against one, behind one's back, that are absolutely and entirely true.

Expected due date of Cold Days was 'sometime in Fall' at the beginning of April, so I expect we will be getting a new Dresden before Christmas.

I know it says Fall 2012 as an ETA. However, I strongly support Butcher taking all the time he wants to make this an amazing book as he did with Ghost Story for that book was PHENOMENAL.
Did that Phenomenon pun work?
Also, if it was indeed Fall 2012, wouldn't he be handing in the manuscript right about now-ish? An X-mas release date would be wonderiffic, but not necessary. Jim has earned infinite patience from me with his writing. I will never, ever bitch in a way that GRRM snipers did for a Butcher book.
