Crime and Punishment is a great book, but it was a strange reading experience for me. For the first half or so, I recognized how good it was, but it didn't really affect me. My mother had the same experience reading it a long time ago and she laughed so hard when she heard me talk about my C&P experience. I wish you the same or a similar experience.

I am about 3/4 into The Girl Who Played with Fire [Millennium #2] by Stieg Larsson. This book is more fun than The Girl with the Dragoon tattoo. A lot more action. In hindsight the first book looks more like an introduction to the main characters.
After that.....I might start The Malazan Book of the Fallen.....*shiver*

Finished TCG over the weekend. I loved it but with reservations. Dunno how I'll possibly be able to write a review for it, but we'll see. After I was finished, I had a Malazan-shaped hole inside of me, so instead of moving on I finished the end of DG for the Tor.com reread. Man, I love that epilogue.
Now I'm rereading The Name of the Wind in anticipation of The Wise Man's Fear arriving today. I'm a quarter of the way through already, and it might even be better the second time.

I got a little bit closer to ending my quest to catch up on all my reviews. Today I posted a review of The Dark Griffin by K.J. Taylor. It's mediocre at best.
I still owe reviews for The Fallen Blade by Jon Courtenay Grimwood, Never Knew Another by J.M. McDermott, and Midnight Riot by Ben Aaronovitch. I'm currently reading Embassytown by China Mieville - it's interesting to see him write science fiction.

Just finished Red Seas Under Red Skies and enjoyed it, not as much as the first, but nonetheless was an enjoyable read. Read about 125 pages into SW and about half of Furies of Calderon in the last couple days. The books of Malazan are pretty much bulit for me so I am enjoying SW so far. I haven't read any Butcher but I do have the first four Dresden books on stand by(read a bit of the first before I bought the other three and I already love the prose) and I thought I would kick it old school and read a coming-of-age story after a reading Malazan, Bakker and Lynch for the last year and Butcher's Codex series was recommened to me by a friend so I dived right in. It's a nice change of pace.

My copy hasn't arrived either. But since it's only EXTREMELY late, plus has been only 5 days since they told me it would arrive in 2 days, I probably shouldn't complain. 
Next time I'm ordering direct from the UK as that probably would be faster.
And cheaper too. The uk book depository sells the hardback for 15 pounds/$33 NZ, rather than the $40 I'm paying for it. And I shopped around for a good price! Elsewhere it's being sold for $60/27 pounds, and the paperback for $40. Fuck those prices. Bookstores here really love to rip off their customers.

Cook's Garrett books are great, they're completely different from the Black Company series.
