I liked Ilium though I honestly didn't like it as much as I thought I would. As a kid I loved all stories about The Trojan War especially the Iliad and this was a pretty cool and different angle to adapt with the story but it was a lot of set-up just to get to the "cliff-hanger" end. I did really like Hockenberry's character though.

I'll finish up Omen tonight and I'm still desparate for my copy of Stonewielder to show up so I'm torn between starting a new series or not so I may go with The Way of Kings or something else- I dunno yet.

Just finished Changes by Jim Butcher, I thought it was okay. I'm not as enamored as most with the series. I find most books are decent, a few have been very good.

Finished Old Man's War Sunday night, and am now over halfway through The Ghost Brigades. Good stuff. The Last Colony is waiting for me at the library.

Just finished Omen today and I'm very much liking this series(The Fate of the Jedi) even after not really digging this book at first. Really love Luke and Ben's interaction and growing relationship after it had been sorely neglected in past books and series.

Since Stoneweilder has still not made it's way here- I went off course and started Anthony Bourdain's Kitchen Confidential. Just started reading it but if you have ever worked in a restaurant I think you would like this book. Just a few chapters in and it's hilarious.

I'm in on the DoD reread craze. But since it's a tpb I've got my copy of Furies of Calderon to carry around with me.

Haha, I didn't want to lug my TPB copy of DoD around with me for my reread....so I just went out and bought a MMPB copy that I can easily carry and run ragged.

ok, but I'm not willing to call the MMPB easy to carry around either. that thing is frakken huge! I have been thinking of getting an ereader app for my itouch and getting it ebook'ed though.

Ah, this is true. It's thick. But at least it fits in my knapsack without battering the edges like the TPB's do. LOL

e-reader is a good way to go too.

Just finished Bakker's Darkness. It was a solid read, i enjoyed it and will definitely continue the series, but i dont get the praise that its one of the best.

Ripping through Scalzi's Old Man's War series; it's good stuff. My review for Old Man's War is here. Just finished Ghost Brigades last night, and it was almost as good, but I missed John Perry's narrative voice. I've started in on The Last Colony, and Zoe's Tale is waiting on my nightstand.

I'm part way through an omnibus of the Viriconium tales, tend to read a couple between finishing a novel and starting a new one.

I'm about to start A Clash of Kings. I set out to read ASOI&F last week for the first time.

You could do worse, it's a nice little distraction. Currently at two thirds in Warbreaker... not Sandersons best work, although Lightsong is awesome.
Starting on Abnett's The Lost for light readage, also have King Rat, Unlundun and Saturns Children on the TRP.

I have read this in one sitting. And I really liked it.
proabaly because I grew up on Dumas, and this book had so many similarities to "20 years later".
Sure, it's not great, but it's very enjoyable.

Finished The Many Deaths of the Black Company on Sat. Epic ending ruined by my guessing exactly what would happen, rendering it less-than-epic.

Sunday was for Kurtz's In The King's Service, polished off in a day. Very satisfying read, will pick up Childe Morgan today or tomorrow while I'm in London.

But now am embarked on Great Expectations, and am 50 pages in (Pip has just travelled to Enough House for the first time), and really enjoying it.

Finished off Midnight Riot/Rivers of London by Ben Aaronovitch. Very enjoyable read and could help out those who are suffering from Dresden withdrawal to last until July.

Now reading Daemon by Daniel Suaraz and very fast-paced, violent techno-thriller. Will definitely have to get the follow up book.

Finished reading Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain yesterday and throughly enjoyed it- I said it before but if you have ever worked in a restaurant or the food service industry you like this book and readily identify many characters and situations that he writes about. I've watched his Travel Channel show and he actually writes very well with honesty and humor- really a great read.

Started Storm Front by Jim Butcher today after all the praise I've seen of his books on this site and about 40+ pages in I'm enjoying it.
