Got about 100 pages left on Stonewielder. I have to say it hasn't really grabbed me. Lots of stuff going on, but not a lot actually happening if you know what I mean. RotCG was better.

I am currently about halfway through John Scalzi's THE GHOST BRIGADES...and so far it's more of that Scalzi-awesomeness I loved about the first book. Good stuff, great series.

Which I think catches me up on my December reads...early....meaning when STONEWIELDER comes in the mail (hopefully this week), I can read that to finish out the year. Woot!

I'm halfway through and I agree. It's pretty good but not as good as RotCG. I guess it's "cleaner," but I liked the epic mess of RotCG.

Also about 160 pages into Before They Are Hanged. I'm enjoying it much more than the first book. The plot still isn't going anywhere fast, but the characters and humor have grown on me immensely. There's humor on every page, and I guess I just didn't notice it at first.

What I like most about Before They Are Hanged is the ending. Trust me, when you get there you'll understand. Abercrombie earned my eternal respect after that second book. Just trust me.

Meh, I didn't think the ending was particularly good. The best part about the book was Jezal's character progression.

Eon (the mediocre sci-fi book) I picked up after abandoning Catch 22 is actually starting to get really good.

The first half was kind of a standard narrative "he did this, she did that" type, but now its getting all political and throwing curveballs all over the place.

Glad I stuck with it now.

I want to read the malaz accessory novels now though.

Just finished R. Scott Bakker's The White-Luck Warrior.

Though the philosophical aspects and the inner musings are back and slow the pace in some instances, this books was nevertheless the shit!

Finished "Claw of the Conciliator", vol. 2 of the Book of the New Sun.
WOlfe is the only author to date who's made me feel that the fact i'm not a native English Speaker is significant. I'm interested, but the book is largely a huge WTF? moment, much more so that GotM. I guess since it's being told from a PoV of a character who's had a sheltelred existance and doesn't know bout the world himself, it makes sense...

Bout half way into In Great Waters by Kit Whitfield. Really enjoying it so far, despite a fairly YA feel to the first sections.

Finished Return of the Crimson Guard. I was a bit wary with this one because I knew many on the forum didn't like it but I must say I enjoyed it. It didn't have the SE's complexity and sometimes the phrasing was just plain wrong and the spelling was a bit odd ( I especially hated cussor) but it was a good read nonetheless. Definitely an improvement on NoK. I can't wait for Stonewielder
