Finished Fall of Hyperion. It was fantastic, but not as good as Hyperion though. That book was brilliant.

Reading King of Kings at the moment, the second book in Harry Sidebottom's Warrior of Rome series.

Ok, you guys convinced me RE waiting to read AFFC until ADWD comes out. If they're simultaneous timelines, maybe I can read a chapter from each book, switching back and forth and it will be just like reading one of the first 3 books.

my ASOS chubby has died down now and I think I can hold off.

I have not read any of the accesory Malaz novels, nor any Eselmont malaz novels yet and I'm due for another Wheel of Time installment, so by the time I get through all that, maybe....just maybe GRRM will have ADWD out. Not fucking likely at the rate he's going but still, a man can hope.

Finished The Gunslinger and was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it. I guess not having read any Stephen King before I wasn't expecting much in the way of fantasy as I know him as a horror writer. There were far more fantasy elements than I expected and his writing was better than I expected. I will definitely continue with the series.

Next up is The War of the Flowers by Tad Williams.

Just finished Robin Hobb's Dragon Haven. It was all right, but it fails to truly satisfy in and of itself. The end offers resolution of a sort, but you end up feeling as though you have read the second volume of a trilogy and you are left with too many unanswered questions. . .

Last week I completed GRRM and Gardner Dozois' Songs of Love & Death, which was pretty good.

Finished Stonewielder two days ago and am now reading Postscripts 10, a collection of horror/thriller style [Fantastic Fiction it says on the cover] short-stories. I originally bough it because I couldn't get This Rich Evil Sound by SE anywhere else, which I love and have read three times by now, but I can't decide what to read next, so I'll stay with the short-stories as of now.

It's supposed to be a classic novel but holy shit is it ever weird. I have absolutely no idea what's going on. Anybody read this and can tell me there's light at the end of the first-100-pages tunnel?

It's an excellent book. Stick it out. I've just spent a few minutes thinking of all the characters in the book, their actions, interactions and fates. Still got a clear memory of most of it, and I read it ten years ago.

Even if you don't get that much enjoyment from it, it's an important book that influenced a lot of later fiction.

Finished Wild Cards Volume II: Aces High. I really like the idea and the characters (especially Fortunato, Croyd and the Turtle) and the stories vary from very good to enjoyable. I think I'm becoming a fan.

Bah, had to put down Catch 22. Way too crazy of a book for my tatse. Not enough story, way too much faffing about.

I did pick up a book from my shelf that has been sitting around there for ages...It's called Eternity. It's sequel to a pretty famous book by Greg Bear called Eon.

Kind of a neat book...way more entertaining than Catch 22...though a little weird. I don't read much Scifi these days.

This is one of my fave things to do...read a book that really turns me off or is really not my tastes...and then picking up a book that in other cases or at other times might be a little lackluster, but still entertaining...and it makes it scads better because of the tripe you just tried to read before it.
