Time for my annual reread of The Book of the New Sun! Started in on The Shadow of the Torturer last night. Soooo good.

Prior to that, of course, I finished off the Sword & Dark Magic anthology. Good, if not particularly memorable, stuff. Still like Erikson's and Wolfe's pieces the best, with Enge, Cherryh, Lynch, Abercrombie, Parker, and maybe Moorcock rounding out my other favorites. Definitely an above-average collection worth seeking out. And hey, if you're a Malazan fan, Erikson's piece is definitely set in the Malazan universe, even if it has no connection (at least yet) to the MBotF at all.

EDIT...progressing still on A Storm of Swords. Gods this book is great. I've been up an hour past normal sleepy-time the last 3 nights chomping down chapter after chapter. Fantastic story in every way. I'm starting to finally see some major threads weave together after being strung apart for so long...

I'm only about halfway through so careful of full /spoilers on the above. I can see now what everybody's been raving about. The end of this book is shaping up to be pretty frickin epic.

Oh man....you are about to embark on the best part. The latter half of that book is awesome scene connected to awesome scene connected to awesome scene. Prepare thyself the for best goddamned stuff that has happened in the series thusfar!

What I wouldn't give to be back reading that book for the first time again.

finshed Shadow of the Torturer. it's certainly interesting, but mostly foreshadowing so far.

making my way through this slowly, b/c between work and upcoming exams, and a rudimentary social life I don't have that much book time anymore.

I'm into the second half of THE RETURN OF THE CRIMSON GUARD. I can't actually say that any plot thread in this book is slow or boring. I find them ALL infinitely interesting in different ways. MUCH enjoying!! I should be successfully primed for Stonewielder soon!

I cannot say I laughed a lot but it did satisfy my cynical self and allowed for a couple of good chuckles.

I also picked up and finished Towers of Midnight, which was pretty satisfying overall but I'm glad there's only one more book left. It's time for answers, dammit.

Now I'm resuming my reread with RG, hoping to get to Stonewielder as quickly as I can...

Two years ago Tor has started a campaign of weekly give away ebooks for 25 weeks? The first one was A Shadow in Summer.
However, I gave up on this because I didn't find the rest of the series in a decent ebook format.

I tried to reread Peter F. Hamilton's The Dreaming Void, as I reread the first two Commonwealth books and I distinctly remember liking at least some of the scenes from the later trilogy, but it's just got to the introduction of the character Corrie-Lyn and oh god the repressed memories of pain i cantseestratemkfsdjngkjfdsnbgjkfdgkjnjdknb

On the plus side, I'm getting Stonewielder for my birthday tomorrow, so I'm good.
