I'm 3/4 into FIRST LORD'S FURY, and it is every bit the ending of the Codex Alera series that I have wanted so far. :)

Nearly finished my re-read of Perdido Street Station - I hated the ending last time round, so I'm hoping that this time it'll be better. So far it's been even better than I remembered though, I love it!

Maybe next I'll finally get around to reading The Gathering Storm - I think I need to be motivated by someone telling me that it's excellent.

Enjoy, Puck. Wizards and Glass was my favorite in the series, albeit my version didn't have the kick-ass artwork the last two volumes had in them.

Yeah, Wizard and Glass is my favorite too. Might be my favorite book period, well, at least in the top 3.Posted Image

Just started The Silver Spike by Cook and Bleak Seasons is on its way from the Library.

Yeah, can't wait to finish The Waste Lands, it really has me on the egde, can barely put it down, and as I've heard from so many people that Wizard and Glass is even better, I guees I'm in for a good read :) Also, the friend who lent it to me is happy to finally have somebody to talk about the series soon.

The Silver Spike streches a bit compared to the other Black Company books, but it's still good :)

I finished Barclay's Demonstorm on Friday. Since then, I've been reading Julian May's Conqueror's Moon.

From my personal experience of reading the Dark Tower series.

After Wizard and Glass, read Salem's Lot. It will give you a good base for understanding Father Callahan story in Wolves of the Calla. Almost a must to fully enjoy it.

After Wolves of the Calla, read Hearts in Atlantis. Not as needed as Salem's Lot but also a nice read before ....before...don't remember :) Either before Song of Susannah or before The Dark Tower, so to be on the safe side I say read it after Wolves of the Calla.

You might not like Hearts in Atlantis, because it is a bit odd. There are 4 stories, but at least one of them is connected to the last books in the Dark Tower series. Let's say it is worth a try.

I tend to like odd stories, I mean, really odd, and so far I like King's style, so I guess it's gonna be a good read.

If you are going that route, the long complicated route of tying in the most Towerian King books to the DT saga (which is over 50% of his total volumes, btw) in sequence, read Salem's Lot -> Wolves -> Hearts in Atlantis -> The Talisman -> The Black House -> Song of Susannah -> Insomnia -> The Dark Tower.

HD - King fan.

Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Well, that's quite a lot to read :) I'd totally be for the long route, buuut I'm borrowing the books from a friend, who's anxious to finally have found someone willing to read the DT series so she's got someone to talk to about it [and fangirl about Cuthbert on the side], so I'm also kind of under time pressure. I know where I can get Salem's Lot from, so I'm definately going to read it after Wizard and Glass. Then I'll see on which of the books you mention I can get my hands on. Anyways, thanks a lot for the help, Astra and H.D. :)

Lol, it was kind of a joke. The Dark Tower encompasses so much of King's multiverse it is almost absurd to try to tie in all the non-directly Dark Tower books into them into any sort of time frame. At the conclusion of The Dark Tower series with the self-samed ultimate novel the following books are DT related:

'Salem's Lot, The Stand, DT-1, The Talisman, It, The Eyes of the Dragon, DT-2, DT-3, Insomnia, Rose Madder, Desperation, DT-4, Bag of Bones, Black House, From a Buick 8, DT-5, DT-6, DT-7, The Regulators, Skeleton Crew, Hearts in Atlantis, Everything's Eventual, The Stand.

I'd imagine that since finishing the Tower series, Lisey's Story, Duma Key, and possibly Just After Sunset were related to the DT multiverse as well.

:)

Well, I'm aware that most of King's work is related to the DT series. Still, if I had the time I'd read everything. That's just me. I ususally try to get the most possible experience out of a book/series. But since I have limited time and a lot of other books I want to read, it's nice to have a direction in which to read should I want to :)
