Just finished GRRM's A Clash of Kings

Pretty fucking badass. Nuff said.

looking very much forward to reading book 3 in that series to see what becomes of Bran, Jon and the Lannisters. I've read some minor spoilers of book 3 and it sounds like some pretty rad shit goes down.

Now reading Engineer trilogy book 1 and liking it.

Book 3 (A Storm Of Swords) is the best of the 4 that are out so far IMHO. It's rocks so hard!

Working on DEATH MASKS- Jim Butcher.

The Dresden novels are great if anyone hasn't tried them yet.

Oh fuck yeah. I'm stoked to get it.

I'm going to order a storm of Swords really soon with a few other books from Amazon.

You guys know how if you click on the sponsor links from here to buy SE's books off amazon.co.uk, then malazanempire.com gets a small bit of cash?

Is there a similar thing for GRRM's books? I'd like to support that community too rather than just getting it off some random link.

Just finished Gav Thorpe's 'Malekith' (elvish civil war in the world of Warhammer) in time for the weekend. It's a bit longwinded in places but very enjoyable once it gets going, my full review is over Here. I'm now well into Kate Griffin's 'A Madness of Angels'...

I'm currently about 150 pages into Wolf Totem by Jiang Rong. Not fantasy, but still really enjoyable. A book dedicated to wolfs in which you can read a whole chapter about how a pack of wolfs hunt a herd of war horses and it's still unputdownable.

The Amazon Fairy has bought me The Rise of the Iron Moon by Stephen Hunt, so that's about to get a reading it'll never forget. I'm also looking at The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov, which is one of those books I've been meaning to get around to for years...

If only they'd arrived earlier in the week whilst I was confined to my sickbed, they'd have been far more appreciated.

If an opinion contrary to your own makes you angry, that is a sign that you are subconsciously aware of having no good reason for thinking as you do. If some one maintains that two and two are five, or that Iceland is on the equator, you feel pity rather than anger, unless you know so little of arithmetic or geography that his opinion shakes your own contrary conviction. … So whenever you find yourself getting angry about a difference of opinion, be on your guard; you will probably find, on examination, that your belief is going beyond what the evidence warrants. Bertrand Russell

The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. I'm liking the first person viewpoint.

I'm late to the game, but I finally read Last Argument of Kings by Joe Abercrombie (full review). He ended this series very well and I'm really looking forward to Best Served Cold - which Abercrombie just announced has ARCs printed.

Now I'm reading Lamentation by Ken Scholes and I'm really enjoying it.

The Name of the Wind is freaking brilliant. I was so glad to have randomly picked that up last year.

I'm currently reading Assassin's Apprentice by Robin Hobb. I don't know what to think about it yet. I'm starting to grow tired of reading stories where the main character starts as a young kid and then grows up, so we'll see how my opinion of this thing goes.

I read a horror anthology, "Voices", edited by Mark S. Deniz and Amanda Pillar. "Voices" deals with the supernatural and paranormal aspects of horror genre and it's a rather small anthology (only 180 pages). Although I would have liked some of the stories to be longer I could find a few interesting ones and also I discovered a few authors who captured my interest. (My full review)

I finally finished that bio of Julius Caesar (ooof...it was a tome) and now I've started Children of Hurin. I figure even if it stinks I can't complain too much because I got the hardcover version on sale for $7.99. :p

Bulgakov is amazing.
all I can say, really

i have finally finished "Stormcaller" by Tom Lloyd.
I fail to see why people disliked it so much
It wasn't fantastic, but it had a few nifty ideas.
Wouldn't call it "spectacular" or the next big thing in fantasy, but it had its merits.
guess I just didn't have any real expectations getting into it.

Not sure what I'll read next, but it's likely that there is a Chapters run in my near future.....

Am still on The Wizard by Gene Wolfe

But have also started Overworld: The Life of a Reluctant Spy by Larry Kolb and also What Went Wrong by Bernard Lewis.

Overworld has been okay so far. What went wrong is fairly decent though.
