It's next on the list in terms of publishing chronology anyway!

Tigana is great and got me pumped for GGK. It’s just taken me years to get more of his books. I had Lions and the only reason it wasn’t read back then is because Tigana was so good I told myself that I wouldn’t make the mistake of multi reading like I did when I read it. GGK deserves solo time from me.

I read Night Angel 4 some time last year to.

Finally got into Michelle West, starting with The Hidden City (I'm now aware this wasn't actually the first book, but I didn't know that when I bought it and hey, some reading lists say it's fine to start). Anyway, it's very good and I'll definitely be reading more.

But I am seriously struggling with suspension of disbelief about the hidden maze of streets and passages lying below the modern city that is a total secret to almost everyone in the city, including the authorities, despite just openly connecting to multiple basements including that of a pub.
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

Same, I’m in about the last 1/4 of City of Night. I keep thinking there’s going to be a magical explanation why no one but Rath and these few kids ever get down there.

City has been mostly slow for a majority of the book, but it’s really picking go up at the end.
I've always been crazy but its kept me from going insane.

Started "Forge of the High Mage" as a beach read, and holy shit. I need an ICE re-read. I mean, I probably need a major Malaz re-read, but I'll honestly wait until Kharkanas 3 is out, eventually.

But I'm being overwhelmed here with all the CriG and Old Guard and Quon Tali stuff. Maybe just a RotCG, Blood and Bone and Assail to catch up? But I worry that might be a slippery slope, considering I wanna finish the Unhewn Throne stuff & catch up on Abercrombie First Law books this summer....

IF IT BLEEDS, an anthology of stories based on the PREDATOR movies.

....judge me all you want, this was stupid good fun. A couple of the stories tried too hard to 'humanize' the Preds (there is no world where they should speak English, or 'hug'), and a couple are just weak stories that miss the mark w why anyone would read a short story about PREDATOR, but about half are great fun, mostly action, that give us well thought out quickly developed humans in some kind of situation made worse by the addition of a super-hunter from space. I especially enjoyed the Ronin and Viking stories, and there's a direct sequel to PREDATOR 2 that is so ott ridiculous that it works because of the stupid instead of despite it.

Various earbook narrators, all over the place but lots of good and none so bad that they ruined an otherwise decent story. It's a fun book and if you know the movie well enough to catch the title reference, you'd lkely enjoy the book.

...just finished SUICIDE KINGS, the latest Eric Carter Necromancer book from Stephen Blackmoore. This was the Graphic Audio full cast version i had been waiting for. Great fun book, i was worried the reset in the last book had taken some of the wind out of the series, but nah, the action, the witty dialogue, the violence, the drug use, the clever use of Mexican mythology in necromancy, all there and better than ever. To my very pleasant surprise, the next two books, CULT CLASSIC and HATE MACHINE, are both already out in audible narrator format, so two credits launched and yay, more fun ahead! ....sorry Graphic Audio but you snooze you lose (unless the narrator is bad but i think i recognize the name as good).

Weirdly, the Audible version of HATE MACHINE clocked in at 9hrs while the not-yet-released Graphic Audio version was just barely 7hrs. Having Just Finished HATE MACHINE, i cannot figure out what they might cut or trim. Maybe the dialogue just flows faster when it's delivered by a cast instead of a narrator adding in every 'I said', 'she said' etc.

In any event, Hate Machine was solid. Very high level of action, lot of fun, and i'm always down for a Vegas heist story. I will note that the narrator should probably never be allowed to do a Latina woman's voice ever again, but that's a minor note, his delivery is otherwise solid and he does a very good job upping the tension and pace for action, or layering in exhaustion, frustration, or sarcasm, to the MC.

Going to go straight into CULT CLASSIC next.

Finished "Forge of the High Mage" during the weekend.

Started "The last Mortal Bond", but didn't get far due to swarming blackflies.

Yeah so he started a book - I believe called "The Last Mortal Bond" - presumably aiming to read quite far. Only, get this, he couldn't! Because these blackflies, they were swarming!

And that's the story.

And once they'd all gone, he was about to get back to his book but a sexy lady, or man, was all like "ooh you wanna have sex?" And he threw the book away cos honestly that's the correct response. So they bumped uglies til the break of day.

And that's the story.
