Yeah that's definitely unprofessional. I'd guess because the person writing the email got a notice saying the books were on the way and not told how many, and panicked, but still, idiotic thing to do.

Indeed, I’m just cranky about it.

I'm reading Harrow the Ninth. 100 pages in and I haven't understood a dang word of it, but I'm sure it will cohere (or congeal, as the case may be) sooner or later.

Finally finished listening to the Scrubs podcast so I'm back to Audiobook goodness. Starting with The End of the Day by Claire North, being one of the two of hers I haven't read yet. I also have William Abbey waiting in the wings...

Lol, I felt pretty much the same, having completely forgotten the ending of GIDEON. It was still a ton of fun. I figure I'll read them both back-to-back when Book 3 comes out and it'll make much more sense then.
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

THE GOD IS NOT WILLING has finally arrived the day before we head out for a week at the cottage, so that’s perfect timing!

One for QT and other fans of Michelle West's books. TL;DR: she's been dropped by her publisher, which is obviously bad, but is starting a patreon to see if she can generate the money to keep writing the series full-time and give herself the freedom to write to her own specs too.

Yep, I hadn’t had a chance to post about it yet. Signed up for her patreon immediately.

Thanks for posting the link PG.

Finished TGINW and loved it so freaking much. Like, ridiculously so.

Have downloaded a free sample of Infinite Jest on Kindle. Always been intrigued but this way I can check it out without paying for it and see if I like it enough to get the full thing.

Progress slow on Karsa is Cross for the moment, not much time to read.

I'm starting to find the relative sparseness of threads a little jarring. Maybe I'm too used to Erikson weaving storylines like Tomas Haake weaves different time signatures together. A few others I know said they had this until around 50% in and then something changed so nowt to do but forge onwards, I suppose.

Wrapped up "Mother London". Very " life of the city"-type novel, jumping all over the timeline from the Blitz to Thatcher's times. Following a cast of people who are either mental patients, or can hear London's ghosts and read minds. Pretty engrossing, though I'm sure I'm not getting nearly as much as an English person would have out of it, since I'm unfamiliar with the various bits of London's geography.

Probably gonna move on to "King of the City" next.

About to start 'Project Hail Mary,' I loved 'The Martian,' but never read his second book. This has had my attention for a while now though so going to give it a shot...

I was bored by this and definitely not interested enough to want to read over 1000 pages of it so instead I am reading Sword of Kings, the penultimate novel in Bernard Cornwell's Saxon Stories series. I have the final one lined up after too.

Been reading about Uhtred for years now, what an adventure it has been. Almost sad to finish it!

And I finished Sword of Kings and have moved onto War Lord - man the past couple of books have been some of the best of the series.

Finished Harrow the Ninth. Muir knows how to deliver a finale! Had some great twists as well. Like even when you figure out the ‘what’ before it’s revealed, often the ‘why’ is still a fascinating surprise.

At last got my hands on The God is Not Willing but it will be a slow read 50 or so pages a day will have to do.

Also starting Ten Arrows of Iron on the earbook front now that work starts tomorrow which will likely go a lot quicker.
