Earbook reading WINTER'S TIDE (Innsmouth Legacy #1) by Ruthanna Emerys. Well written and narrated and i'm enjoying it so far. Don't know quite how i feel about her take on the Cthulhu mythos... i appreciate the originality, but have difficulty with just how loving and cuddly she (seems to) depict the usual cast of mind shattering thing-gods from beyond. Stil, the cast in interesting, the setting, Miskatonic U during the early Cold War very clever, and the pov protagonist at once vulnerable, competent, open yet mysterious.

In ebook nothing at the moment coming off the OATHBRINGER eye/ear double-bill. Likely to shift to some pretty picture books for a while. The eGTRP needs some attention and the latest EAST OF WEST is calling to me plus the complete run of FABLES, and Warren Ellis' JAMES BOND work.

Yes. I know he can be hit or miss, but I liked both Aztec and Shiva (for diff reasons). The "Lovegrove twist" is still there, but he did interesting things with it.

There's a lot of stuff there. I combed through all those files almost 5 years ago, got close to 200 books out of it. (Haven't read any of them yet, of course...)

There is, as well as some not good and i say this from painful experience. Still, i'd say most older multi-book mil sf series by Weber are entertaining, action-packed, not terribly deep, and sufficiently well plotted that you don't see every little step in the story coming. Aside from Empire of Man, his Stars at War/Starfire, Empire from the Ashes/Dahak, and War God's Own/Bahzell (fantasy, some mil, no sf) come to mind. Btw, all the /s are because these series start out being titled one thing, then are rereleased in collected volumes under a different name because reasons/money.

tried another bit of dune last ngiht, but its frustrating, I dont like reading a novel like dune in short bits, I only read like 20 pages before having to get to bed, working big hours at the minute. i'm saving it for weekend reading I think.

I FINALLY finished The Stone Dance of the Chameleon trilogy the other week. Was worth it, though there was little payoff in the end. Could've been a lot better with less waffling about and more things happening (and I say that as a devout lover of SE's more philosophic moments, especially in FoD and FoL). Books two and three were definitely too long and took ages to get to the point, which then kind of drowned in all the text. Hated Carnelian from the get-go, and he only grew a backbone in the last couple of chapters of book three. Loved the setting, though, which was kept me reading. Nice backstory. Glad I saw it through to the end.

I'm now three fourths through Good Omens. Yeah, I'm late to the party, but I needed something light and flimsy since I've spent the best part of a week sick in bed.

Easily the finest of the Star Wars novelizations, and actually makes viewing the movie a better experience. The poem bit from the beginning about a "lone candle being enough to keep the dark away" was read at my wedding. LOVE that book.

If any SW novel could be considered capital-L "Literature", it would be REVENGE OF THE SITH. The prologue always makes me tear up every time (I've reread that bit a lot): "Though this is the end of the age of heroes, it has saved its best for last."
