Hey Oathbringer peeps! I'd gotten slightly behind on the Sanderbot's works. I haven't gotten through either the third Wax and Wayne book or Arcanum yet. Are either of those going to be important to read before Oathbringer?

The Arcanum "Lift" story EDGEDANCER is. I haven't yet hit a Lift-centric interlude in OATHBRINGER, but I'm FAIRLY sure OATHBRINGER happens after EDGEDANCER and as a result there is a MAJOR story development that happened in that short story which is very relevant. You don't need to buy Arcanum anymore to read it either, as Brandon has released it a standalone novella too. But if you own Arcanum, dip into that story at the very least.

Good to know. I do own Arcanum already, so this is just helping me prioritize my trp for the next couple months at this point. I know that I want to read The Bands of Mourning before I read Secret Empire, so I'll just plan to chew through both of those before I crack Oathbringer. I might pop an audible credit of BoM so I can get through it a bit quicker, and it's narrated by Michael Kramer which is always a plus.

None of that's going to happen until I get to Deadhouse Landing though, and I'm just waiting until I finish listening to The Bonehunters to dig into that.

Finished "Magic Shifts", as expected. Solid book, nice beasties, less politicking, more crazy magic. loved it.

As specified above, Dancer's Lament is now both commute and at-home book until completion. Given I'm almost a quarter into it after a few weekend hours, that should not take long either.

So after Oathbringer and DhL I am in a full scale reading slump with an extra slice of depression.

To change my palate I read Lincoln Child's Full Wolf Moon and it was painfull predictable.

Just starting the fifth Craft sequence book.
Book 4 had probably the strongest finish to any of the books so far

Will soon finish Tregillis The Mechanical and not sure I'm really in the mood of something this depressing, probably going with something entirely predictable and with a cast of familiar characters so Oathbringer perhaps.

Also nearly through Harbringer of the Storm which is awesome.

Breaking out from my mini reading slump.

Started reading Sufficiently Advanced Magic by Andrew Rowe, my first ever LitRPG book.

Also started reading the second Riyria book- Rise of Empire.

I have also started rereading the Dresden series by audiobook and I am 40% into Stormfront. The audiobook is pretty good so far.

Maybe?Posted Image

I was considering a Dresden reread and I had heard good things about the narrator.

Finished "Dancer's Lament" ...

Quite good, but then again I never really hated on ICE the way some people did, and RotCG was always one of my favorite Malad books.

Got a 3-day work trip coming up. Not sure what book to take.

Finally got my hands on DEADHOUSE LANDING...and now I face a conundrum.

Do I stop reading OATHBRINGER (which I'm kind of struggling with through Part 1....not excessively mind you...but I've begun unceremoniously skimming Shallan sections...which isn't good) for the time being and read DHL and then go back to OATHBRINGER....or do I finish OATHBRINGER first and then hit DHL?

Help me forumites, you're my only hope!

Let me put it like this - I read Oathbringer after DhL and I found it to be bland. ICE has reached a totally new level, Malazan is Malazan, and Sanderson can't really hope to compare. Power through Oathbringer and then read DhL if you can resist the temptation.

I think you maybe in trouble then... I thought she was your favorite??

No, never my fave. I liked her in WoR (more than WoK), but not my fave.

In this one she seems to just do a lot of wandering about corridors and making weird assumptions and fawning over Adolin. It's tedious.

Though I did like the Chapter 30 part...

I am finding OATHBRINGER to be bland without having read DHL first...at least Part 1...

Yeah, I'l push on through as I want to savour DHL and not worry about repicking up OATH afterwards...

Thanks guys.

That Murphy doesn't unceremoniously leave/arrest Dresden is a series-miracle from book to book.

All off this just reinforces me in my belief that I'm gonna wait for the mmpb release of "Oathbringer". Which is good, b/c browsed thru bookdepository recently, and my wishlist almost doubled.

Nah. Just stop and read DHL, then go back to OATH.

DHL is that good, don't deny gratification unnecessarily.

I struggled to get to the end of Part 1 and the first set of interludes in OATHBRINGER...and put it down for now...and picked up DEADHOUSE LANDING.

...and so far I'm more enthralled by merely the prologue and 1st chapter of DHL than I was in the first nearly 400 pages of OATHBRINGER.

Gonna blaze through DHL now.

The first book is especially slow going, there is only really one sequence of consequence... The second does pick up but it's frustrating... it starts to ramp up, the pages start turning then you hit the Dalinar early year chapters and it just halts all momentum...

I'm just about to finish the second set of interlude chapters and hoping it picks up from there.

Wish I had started with DHL but if I start that now, I don't know when I will get back to Oathbringer.
