Spoiler what ya meant about Outlander so I can see it.

BM is indeed very heavy. I will have to reread it again one day. It is truly great and very deep.

Not telling.

The books to me have a very Druidic(nature magic) feel to me.

Yes, very druidic/old magic in nature. Think of it less as time travel in a science fiction-y way, and more in a magical portal fantasy sort of way, if that makes sense?

Coincidentlaly, and on topic, I've started the 4th Outlander book DRUMS OF AUTUMN....oh man BK, this one is damned good so far!

Yep.

Hell its going to be a while yet before I make it to 4. Still only in the early 400's and IB starts today...

Ando will pass us up in a week if 1 hooks him as much as I think it will.

LoL Bk you really overestimate my reading speed and time! Posted Image

I would estimate a month to read the first two books if I only read Outlander and I am not.

Edit: So according to Goodreads, Outlander 1 is 896 pages, Outlander 2 is 743 pages.
I checked back and I read the two 1000+ Sanderson SLA books in two weeks. But that was when I was reading only those books and I wasn't so busy.

So a month seems reasonable

Finished Monarchies of God. It was as rough and abrupt an ending as you guys promised. Such a shame.

Over all I think books 1-4 were 4/5 and book 5 was a 3/5. Still an above average series.

I started Control Point (Shadow Ops # 1) by Myke Cole. Life has been busy so I don't want to jump into a more in depth read at this point.

Is Newt in the pic on the Lonesome Dove sequels?

Return is playing right now and I forgot how laughable it is but damn Reese Witherspoon was hot in it.

How many McMurtry books have you read? How many of the TV movies have you seen?
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

0 though I owned all 4 at one time. I've seen all of them but only remember LD with 100% clar. Idk if he was in Garners Streets of Laredo. The other 2 are LD prequels from pre Newt I think.

The movies/miniseries take different tacks with different characters. So "Return to Lonesome Dove" has Newt in it and the others don't have Newt in them because they deal with different sets of characters at different times.

Finished The Obelisk Gate, and it didn't disappoint at all. I get all NKJ's books on Kindle though, and every single time I forget the last ~10% is dedicated to supplemental materials, previews of other books, etc. so the finales always sneak up on me.

Wrapped up "Magic Strikes". Fun read, though that cover... not really subway-reading material.

Liked it quite a lot, not perfect, but good fun read.

next up in commute, I'll get back to the Laundry with The Annihilation Score

At home, I've made 0 progress with Stand on Zanzibar since I came back from vacation. Will need to rectify that.

I forgot to mention I started Knife of Dreams. Now I hear a lot about books 1-10, and how they divebomb in quality in that last 3-4 books, but I've never heard anything about this one, which seems peculiar given that it's RJ's last book. Is its reputation "sweet relief" and optimism? Or just a slight upswing cuz people hated 10 so much?

I actually consider Knife of Dreams to be one of the better books. In his last book RJ had a great return to form

if that was Book 1, no endorsement in the world would've made me pick up the series.
