Have you've read the Crossroad's trilogy set in the same world? I've yet to read Black Wolves so I don't know if there's much connecting tissue between them but if you've craving for more I'd go there (or really anything from her). Elliott is a dense, heavy writer, and is probably one of the greatest living fantasists we have and its absurd to me that she is rarely mention among other epic fantasy greats as she is better than a good number of them.

Black Wolves was quite an eye opener. I am going to try to read more Elliott and I agree she is not talked about at all.

Done Part 1 (so about 100 pages in). Lot less sex so far than in "woken furies", which is a good thing. The setting and story are indeed pretty awesome.

Naaaaahhhhh you can't go wrong with hot Monica style scenes. The more the merrier!

Altered Carbon was nice. Yeah, long, but it moved the plot along.

By the time he got to "Woken Furies", Morgan's plot to sex-scene ratio became almost comparable to an average porno parody movie

I really liked book 3. It's the one that sealed the deal for me. I can't wait to see your end if book reactions. Don't forget the short stories either. They're done like the Dresden short stories tend to be so that you get povs from supporting cast.

I finished The Scar. Holy crap, I can't believe I left that sitting in the trp for five years. I KNOW Mieville is brilliant, but the way he's tying the Bas-Lag books together so far is fantastic. There's no way I'm leaving Iron Council on the trp for more than a month at this point.

I'm sitting just over halfway through Song of Susannah on my kobo. I can't wait to see how they handle her for the series. I know she won't be around for the first one, but that's ok. They're going to have to find someone with some serious acting chops to pull her off. This'll give them more time to find someone who won't fumble the role.

Iron Council is a slower paced book than The Scar, yet it's beautiful too.

You'll have a good time with it.

I am halfway through WOT book 8, The Path of Daggers, and I'm liking it so far. It's like 300 pages shorter than all the previous books, so that helps, but it's been pretty on target storywise so far imo. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Agreed. Am also curious to see how close to her original 70s radical Black rights attitude they stay.

I have a mixed relationship with IRON COUNCIL. As a part of the Bas-Lag world building it is glorious, the core concept is awesome, but some of the execution is just frustrating and I thought Mieville let his politics shine through a little too much.
